Awesome I have many headphones ranging from 50 ohm to 600 ohm so I’ll be building the version with the bigger output devices and increased Iq.
Thanks
Thanks
Dirk, you are such encouraging! While I have built and enjoy this preamp since the beginning of my diy hobby, I still appreciate these clarifying posts, which only makes this community grow🙏👍
Hi
Would this be a good choice for the power supply? Limit is 0.5A
Low noise supply
I’ve heard a Kubota supply but never had a chance to build one.
Thanks
Eric

Hello Eric,
I have never built this specific power supply (Kubota). But there have been rumors, that it shall be pretty good. If it can deliver 0,5 A - this is more than enough for Waynes Line Stage. The DC-output of the PS should be anywhere between +-18 V DC and +-24V DC.
Cheers

A Kubota regulator will be fine and in a reply to a question I had, Wayne says +/-20VDC is optimum.
Hello toghether,
i`ve been thinking about, how to get bal in and out at this pre, without doubling the boards.
In this forum i do a little search but did not find something that fits.
So i do a little copy an paste, how i thought this could work.
I`am not really sure this will work + understandig of feedback resistors, for gain setting is limited.
Will copying them to the other side will affect the gain of the whole amp?
Or will gain stay the same?
And what to do with the Resistance to ground at input. I think this will be needed for high input impedance and a path to ground at input.
If someone has suggestions, be welcome

dunno when, but I already posted proper one
though, will it demand some tweaking in vivo, can't say without actually making it
you have some missing elements there ........ loading resistors in LTP

Dual boards is the easiest way to do it. Mirror imaging the circuit looks good but it would take some work as is seemed a bit unstable in sims.
Prolly back there somewhere, but could you grace us with a pic or two if on hand?I used dual boards when I built my Balanced version. I stacked them on top of each other, they don't produce very much heat on 50 mA. It made wiring the PCBs to the chassis a piece of cake and very clean wiring.
The best part is how it sounds.
regards,
Andy
The BA2018 boards are on the right side of the pic, it has a Salas UFSP phono section which takes up most of the room in the enclosure. The power supply for the UFSP is seperate, and the BA2018 power supply along with the supply for the remote, relay operated selector and volume control is on the left side of the enclosure. My first build with a remote, the amp is an ALEPH J.

Theres another version of this circuit besides the one posted on post #1? I thought the bigger outputs just meant different transistors minus any circuit change. If theres a simpler version than the first post id like to knowBigger better, or more Iq makes this version of the OS better. Or my cables need the extra drive. Or a ton of other variables come into play. Dunno. Just sounds more liquid 🙂 the version with big outputs have more than double the bias/Iq. Plus a bit simpler circuit/less parts.
Andy talk about the official version, which comes in 2 variants:
1) smaller transistors/more parts (what, one or two items)
2) bigger transistors/fewer parts.
Both are on the same pcb, and are equally challenging/easypeasy to build…
Then there’s the forum‘s hacks, like zm, who just can’t resist the itch to hack everything😉

Yes, yes. The Serbian Papa-сврабеж is getting the best of us allThen there’s the forum‘s hacks, like zm, who just can’t resist the itch to hack everything😉

although, sometimes it's the other way 'round, us getting the best of him! (old soul, turtles, veggies etc. 🙂 )
( isn't "сврабеж" just a bit naughty? —

Naughtiness is implicit. Always. At least for me 🙂 Can’t get by without. But I agree, Papaland getting the best of us implies us getting the best of them.
please don’t remind me of my eternal Pumpkin dream. I was hoping not to be reminded of that until Halloween
