Cool enclosure ! 🙂👍 Do you have a lid for it as well ?A Big Thanks too Nelson Pass and all the help from DiyAudio !
I put this after my B1 buffer feeding a ACA superb sounds into some Sony SS-CS5
Thanks again
All the best, Claas
Haha nothing like a good Ramen only this one is a little tough on the teeth but great on the ears!Thats a funny looking Ramen! The green one is the chashu?
Its a 4inch plumbers PVC end cap its what i had lying around no cap or lid !Cool enclosure ! 🙂👍 Do you have a lid for it as well ?
All the best, Claas
Probably a temporary enclosure till i find it a permanent enclosure
It sounds better if i can see it lol!
Enjoy the Music everyone , Simon
The amp in which I will be installing a unity gain H2 board has a built in SMPS with auxiliary 13.2 VDC output. Is it critical that the H2 supply be 12V? What would the extra 1.2V do to the circuit?
Well, “FAB it and see“ took over and my installation is working fine.
It passed the test speakers audition, and is playing music with my main system.
There’s a slight mains hum very close to the speaker and quite a big turn off thump. I can investigate those further.
Otherwise it sounds pretty good. Very good. Based on memory alone, I believe it has added a bit of that holographic soundstage sense (like the Vfet SE) to my TPA3255-based amp.
Overall a resounding success! What a great little gadget!

Ah, a DrMordor TPA3255 amp...one of the lucky people who got one before the fallout.Well, “FAB it and see“ took over and my installation is working fine.

That’s correct, turion. I was a lucky recipient of an early product before everything went sour.
Regarding the turn off thump, I found this quote from Nelson in an old thread:
Regarding the turn off thump, I found this quote from Nelson in an old thread:
Could that be a simple solution here? Or does SMPS complicate things? I know there wasn’t a thump before I added the H2.If you hear a "snap" when turning off equipment, it likely
means that you do not have some capacitance across the
AC line or the switch to suppress the transient when you
interrupt current which is flowing. My prefer method is to
have AC LINE RATED filter caps across the line before and
after the switch - values like .01uF to .1uF.
von Ah..... I too had him make me one back in the summer of 2020 (before his over extension) and I've had it since Oct of that year. I initially experienced a very slight "thump" (maybe because everything is sent to my subwoofer first and speakers connect to the line out on the subwoofer?) so I actually did put a speaker delay on (only) the "+" out. have had no issues although I don't use the drM amp a lot since getting it. Since I built the H2V2 as well, I'll have to hook it up now and see what I get.
When you shut the power off and get your thump, do you shut off the amp first or some other sequence?

Thanks, turion. The thump is when I turn off the amplifier at its switch. No other equipment switched off. I have an external speaker switch to get around the thump, but I would like to address the source so I can use this amp in other systems.
And yes, I know the SMPS outputs DC. But since it does different things with the incoming AC than a linear power supply, I was asking if adding AC filter caps before and after the switch per Nelson’s quote might behave differently In this case.
I realize that since there’s so much room in the chassis, I could just put a wall wart 12v PS in there with the incoming AC, but that seems inelegant. 😎

I’ve been listening to the TPA3255 amp with the H2 added throughout this week. It really is something special.
There’s lots of power available and the detail is exquisite. Very enjoyable. I believe the H2 might be the secret sauce for bringing low distortion class D amplifiers closer into the toe-tapping realm of class A enjoyment.
I like the mess I’ve created in my main system. Looks like audio schizophrenia.

...and the meters in Toshiba cabinet are also useful as abat-jour in the late night listening sessions!I like the mess I’ve created in my main system. Looks like audio schizophrenia.

H2+class D: this is very interesting for budget/low space setups!

I'm surprised you're just getting to build it now. Carsten sent it out months ago, no? Component supply problems? My components will arrive on Tuesday: very excited for building it 🙂
Cheers
Sorry...May your builds be successful and satisfyingNope, health problems. Just completed the AJ, now it's time for H2 ans ACN
