DIY Class A/B Amp The "Wolverine" build thread

yes you would use the red, black, green wires on the output
44.6 - 0 - 44.6 will give you approximately 63 - 0 - 63 volts dc rails.
The orange and blue would be to high 56 x sqrt. 2 = ~79v

Thank you. Love it when its straight off from you. I will check for the group order link. So I should select - EF3-4 (4 Pairs of Output Transistors) - V4.0 (2nd Group Buy)?

Am not able to quote mhuth1776. Will look into it. I am planning to use two transformers as I have two of them. Should I still consider the different wiring.

Sometimes its a simple software or driver glitch, reboot and power cycle the devices helps too
Correct, I have seen this too. In fact the DAC I'm using with REW signal generator after about measuring for 30 minutes just decides to go absolutely haywire and output garbage noise, but I haven't got another DAC to confirm whether that it is the DAC or ASIO4ALL. Also sometimes just touching the laptop trackpad sends a spike through the loop and blows out the measurement and averages have to be reset.

Both topping, E1DA and ASIO4ALL are all suspects.

Don't take it too serious anyway, like I said, its only for my sanity checking making sure something is not grossly wrong, and not measurebating. The rig is good enough for that.

@kiran1103 Do keep in mind that your transformer appears to have a single secondary that is center tapped. That means a bit different wiring for the power supply with a single bridge rectifier at double the PIV spec.
Agreed, that's a centre tap isn't the most optimal but if you already have them then you can consider your options. Sorry I should have mentioned it. I assumed that you just wanted to know if you could make them work. Thanks @mhuth1776 for adding to my post 🙏

EF3-3 or EF3-4 ? Please suggest for Polk Legend L600

Dear friends,
I do have a pair of Wolverine EF3-3 boards procured from @fireanimal, and yet start working on it. I would like to pair the Wolverine with my Polk speakers which are rated at 4 Ohms(3.3 Ohms minimum) and 86db sensitivity. The Polk dealer suggested me to pair the speakers with a high current 2 Ohms capable amplifier.
So which one should be the ideal output choice, 3 or 4 pair? I can purchase EF3-4 boards if there is a real benefit out of it. Your response would be much appreciated.

Transformer: 40-0-40 400VA per channel or 45-0-45 500VA per channel
Output transistors: OnSemi 2sc5200/2sa1943 or OnSemi MJL3281/MJL1302

Regards
Sha

I made some copper heat sinks for the Wolverine today. Also two for the Honey badger. They are cut with a wire edm from a copper sheet and then drilled and engraved in the mill. Just need to spend some time on the surface finish.

yeah, not end of the world, you need to use this power supply topology with a centre tapped secondary.

You'll need a 35A bridge rectifier, PTP wired from the tx secondaries. Not sure what Smoothing Cap PCB there are available for single bridge PSU topology, any recommendations guys?
