well , I'm used to overkill , so no regs
in case you want some , include cap multiplier , as in F3 (Q5, C5, R19,R20,D1)

An accurate statement?

Class A amp power supply
Regulated (constant) voltage, not current.
All of the Nelson Pass class A amplifiers,
around 50W stereo, use a CRC unregulated supply.

To get the ball rolling on this project, I'm seriously considering a couple of 60V ebay switchers.
I can get one switch mode power supply cheaper than the price of just one capacitor and I was thinking of getting 8 of those capacitors (not cheap).
You're right about the capacitors. Here's what I'm starting with,

Hello Dan
I have used for R4 equivalent made with two Futhaba MPC74 resistors in series
0.1R ( 5 watts ) + 0.1R ( 5 watts ) = 10 watt's of the power dissipation and is sufficent
and don't run too hot , bigger are always OK if not bulky 🙂

P=Iq^2 x R
3A2^2 x 0R2=2W05 , so 10W as Okidoki , even dynamically when you count on twice Iq delivered to load
though 20W is better for sleep

So.............looks like R1 to R3 and R7 to R9 are 1/2 watt. R4 and R5 are 10watt and the sole survivor R6 is 3 watt.

P.S. I wouldn't mind finding some CPCC10's. Nice and compact. Speaking of compact. These look nice too. TNP10SAR200JE Ohmite | Mouser Canada

Question : do somebody have made photos of Mr. Pass IXYS Schade 50W and 2SK77B prototypes amplifiers
after talk at the BAF2015 show ?

Too bad someone didn't do a PCB. With the right components this could be simple, compact, and neat. Everything Father Pass looks for in a design?

Dan

CCS boards can be the similar concept but power stage pcb with Tokin SIT need design modyfications.
Yes, but I am a mere mortal compared to Mr. Rothacher. That's why simple designs have so much appeal.

Dan

I'm going old school all the way! Massive toroids! 5 Farads of capacitance! And in the end an class A amplifier that weighs more than a small car! 😀

Amp at 3.2A run HOT

5 Farads of capacitance!

Do You go with Kemet caps brand ?

Bought a few of these out of curiosity, but sadly, the cheapest Chinese bridges sound better to me.

Amp at 3.2A run HOTweight "
" if stereo version make him on small wheels are not one extravagance 🙄
I have enough 'parts' to make a monster stereo amp!

Did you put a Quasimodo in front of them?
