5 FaradsToo goood 😀
Do You go with Kemet caps brand ?

40 of these per channel.

Screw Pin Capacitor 100V 120000uF replace 80V 100000uF Electric Vehicle #J29 | eBay
@ Dantwomey
Good price for such large capacity, hope quality are ok as well.
After diode bridge first cap can be small ~ 22000 uF then R ( big power wirewound resistor )
next 120 000 uF and L (choke) and one more 120 000uF and is plenty.
Two rails = 0.524 Farad ! Do You need more ?

Just kidding. 66000uf per channel with the two inductors included.

My psu be 220 000uF per channel.
Bigger capacitors give bunch of storage energie available.
Too much not mean better sound.
BTW Chassis with heavy heatsinks cost a lot.
Summer climat in France and run of 50 watt´s in Class A is a " Coldcut "

C1 35V min
C2 60V min
C3 16V min
you can try 0.33 for R4 and R5 it will reduce the bias for the summer calor 🙂

I have some heatsinks the size of a small car so I'm going .22!

My is IXYS mosfet version,Taken from Sir Rothacher's Ironamp design. The perfect candidate for the bias circuit here?
Oh I forget Your is different with SIT so need (-) bias voltage

I'm building the IXFN140N20P version so I'm assuming I'll need a negative gate bias. More homework to do................

OK for IXYS amp build this one , is tested Zen Mod version and work like charm with multiturns trimmer 🙂

I'll need a negative gate bias.
On schematic is positive bias (+) 4.7V for IXYS
What consumes most of my time is I'm a classic over builder. All of my builds I hand machine the cases usually out of 6mm aluminum plate. This and the fact that I only have a few hours a week to indulge in my hobby makes for long build times. On a most positive note, this gives me more time to come up with creative solutions for layouts, etc. Right now I'm thinking of building something that will hold my capacitors, inductors, and bridge rectifiers in some sort of compact multi-tier package that will make both electrical and aesthetic sense.

Dan 🙂

Yes Dan!
This amp is an interesting construction challenge. Multi layer inside, compact but with good air flow for cooling.

So much fun, I think I will join the party too. I can't have too many Class A amps.
I just purchased two large heat sinks from a Canadian ebay merchant. No worries about Canada Customs or brokerage fees.
The heat sinks are 11.75'' x 8.875'' x 5.25'' and weigh 20 pounds each.
I will build them with THF-51S in monoblocks. My Hammond inductor loaded VFET L'Amps sound great. CCS loaded THF-51S with much higher power should be fantastic.

The fins are similar to the fins in Soundhappy's heatsinks (see post #593). The heat sinks weigh 20 pounds each so I am hoping that they are adequate for 200Watts.
Soundhappy,
What are the dimensions and weight of your heat sinks?
Soundhappy,

Not volume and weight, but structural problems. I think the fins are too dense and not conducive to air flow. Maybe my worry is superfluous.
I use Google Translate.
I use Google Translate.
The heatsink will dissipate heat through convection and radiation. Convection may not be the best with the tight spaced fins but the large bulk of fins will radiate quite a bit of heat.
I will find out when I get the amps running. But I am encouraged by Soundhappy's amps with similar heatsinks.
