Something to lighten the mood

Just one small bowl of porridge a day can increase life expectancy by 5 per cent, and reduce the risk of death by heart disease by 9 per cent.

..snip
I think the Forum, and especially our French members, is overwhelmingly favoring a shorter life, but an enjoyable one! However there may be some middle ground here. Porridge followed by Eggs and Bacon. So far so good. 🙂

@soundbrigade, if I recall correctly, I saw Jimmy Page and his druggy long-haired friends at Earl's Court, not the Dominion in Tottenham Court Road. And isn't something "Lost in Translation" with LES ZEPPELIN (sic)?

I think you are missing a trick here:

We need more letters. 3 is not enough!

Foyles?

In the US we have basically two types of rolled oats, Old Fashion and Instant.

Old Fashion or Regular oats take 8-10 minutes on a stove, or 3:30 in a microwave.

Instant is as the name implies, just add boiling water or milk and you are ready.

I have been eating Old Fashion about 5 days a week for the past 10 years since I went into the ER with chest pains. After getting a stint, it took two more years to determine I was actually having indigestion.

Spirits, as per origin of alcohol:
Whisky from malted grains, mostly wheat and barley.
Rum from sugar cane.
Brandy from distilled wine, mostly grape but others too.
Gin from juniper berries.
Vermouth is flavored brandy.
Vodka from potato

Sugar beets...?

And so on...

Too many pop ups there.
Technically a grain spirit, so whisky really.

Unless oats grow underground and are not grains.
Clear spirits can be rum too...

Smart marketing, or attention seeking.
If they do not know how to classify spirits, I wonder about the quality of their products.

The humble oat was once a common component in the production of Irish whiskey.

Whisky made from oats has been around for a long time. There are references to the grain being used in mashbills in Scotland from the end of the 18th century.

I had to duck out there briefly. Too many pressing matters to attend to. 🙂

As an Inspecteur of the Surete, I regard ALL individuals as potential CRIMINALS:

Such were my suspicions last Night (20th. October 2021) of certain activities in my modest dwelling. 😕

We heard certain F23-B Jet-like noises above La Maison "system7".

"Naturellement" I "depeched tres vite" to investigate. 🙂

Turned out my deeply suspicious neighbour Colin was waiting for a package. In the course of what he did not realise was an interview by the Police, he said he considered removing my Voodoo Man from the garden! Opined it was an African Fertility symbol designed to increase Fertility in our House. Interfering in my property is severely Criminal, IMO.

Anyhoo, what was Colin waiting for so expectantly and nervously? It arrived tonight (21 Oct) on my watch and I accepted it. He later grabbed the package and ran off. Later returning with what he alleged were the contents.

"An iPhone 13?" I sweetly suggested. 🙂

"No, an iPhone 12 Max, an iPad 20:20 and a bonus Miniature Flying Drone with camera".

My own feeling is that he had ordered the usual Church-goers Movie-Fare of:

"The Sweet Sins of Sister Susan".
"Don't Deliver Us from Evil".
"She'll have Nun of It"

Interestingly, while I was about to take a picture, pleasant, but short, Maria appeared with a 9-pointed Cake for me. Called "Ma Moon" in her native language. I think she has decided a Man with Income is a good prospect for "Une femme d'un age certain".

Smells like some sort of variation on Cheese Buns. But clearly she is a better cook than me.

You must take your chances with Prof. Brian Cox. I suspect he thinks the Universe is "Amazing".
