Depends on how much they paid the employees😡.Well, for $158 per cab (4 pieces) you might wonder: handles, grill, plugs, casing, paint and container shipment from China to USA and still able to make profit
Does that leave 10$ for the driver???
Minimum wage in Santa Fe is now $9.85 per hour, at 40 hr per week that is $1576 per month.
Minimum wage in Chongqing is $108.55 per month.
Global economics are a bizarre thing.
With material costs as they are here, finished products from China are cheaper than anything I can build, even if I consider my labor at a Chongqing wage.

where did Reminence go?
Iv'e been doing a bit of searching around for decent priced 12" woofers that might work in a TH and have found something that looks interesting. It's the Pioneer TS-W308D4. They can be bought in Australia for around $230 a pair including postage. Here is the spec:
Iv'e got some wood left over from a previous project and would consider a build if it would work?

Still here 🙂 presented the project to uni on friday. It went well and everyone seamed pretty excited. Still thinkin i should just import the drivers for the ss15 atm.I have 8 weeks to have it built :S
Well the ss15's are really quick to build. Cut glued and screwed in an hour or two!
So you have time 😉
So you have time 😉
Yupp it's a quick little project. I believe jbell goes through his cutting routine in the single sheet challenge thread, but I guess the most important part is to cut the internal panel width cuts without moving the fence on your table saw. Good luck!
You can call too Soundlabsgroup overthere and ask them if they can order the Monacor SP-15/500FH for you.Thats a relief about the build time 🙂 but if only a driver wer available in aus for it.

Col that pioneer could work well, but would it work in an existing design
I'm not sure. I tried to put the specs into hornresp with jbells 12" TH but sd is missing.

To do this would cost a fortune, in excess of $400 a driver.
you could try one of the Ande drivers (chinese clone of a B&C I think).
JDs Sound and Lighting. Ande 15" LB15-1 350W driver / speaker
I haven't used any of these drivers so have no idea how good they are. I have looked at them though and they seem well built.

where are you situated (aus(tralia)(tria)) ?
is the 35 hz shifted to 50 hz f3?
imo see what driver(s) you can get your hands on,and design something for it.

hmm, I have ordered from JD's before but a few googles of ande speakers reveals barely anything other than JD's site and some ebay links which is a concern :S are they rebranded? Oh and Australia 😀

I have just read that this driver has been used before in the ss15 however it might have been a bad idea.

Hi Reminence,
The Ande LB15-1 looks very promising in the SS15.
Sensitivity figures based on 1W/1m.

Hi Reminence,
The Ande LB15-1 also looks very promising in the Xoc1-TH18, which gives you the low end extension into 30ties. Again, sensitivity figures are shown in 1w/1m.

There is also more information on the Ande website. Some of their drivers look similar to Eminence. I'm guessing that they are copies based on these designs.

Thanks Col, looks like the Australian distributor didn't copy the specs right. Btw, I don't see any resemblance with Eminence besides they look like speakers 😉.There is also more information on the Ande website. Some of their drivers look similar to Eminence. Anyway a new hornresp input based on the manufacurer's specs gives a different view. The difference sits in the BL value. This LB15-1 driver seems to work great in Martinsson's THAM or indeed the Cubo15 for instance. Anyway, Ande seems to develop interesting drivers for TH's.
