How does this look using the Ande LB1560 which I think sims way better than the LB15-1 in tapped horns and only costs $50 extra. Can anyone see anything wrong with the charts? I

That plot does look nicer and its nearly double the power handling, i would definatly rather use that speaker, provided it it doesnt have problems. Is this plot for the cubo 15 extended though?
Hi FreakyShotGlass,
The Hornresp input posted in Post #82 does not seem correct. When double-clicking on the Sd value I do not get the manufacturer's T/S values. Also, using the values in your input screen I do not get the same Hornresp SPL plot that you are displaying. A Sd of 852cm^2 gets you closer to the manufacturer's T/S when using Hornresp to recalculate the values.
I'll attach the manufacturer's data I used as displayed by JD's Sound & Lighting, and a Hornresp input screen with T/S based on Sd=852.
Regards,

Thanks for the info tb46, did not know that you could do that double click on sd thing and was kinda of guessing the sd since annoyingly it is not published. I will tweak the design with this new info and see what I can come up with.
After a bit of tweaking with the new specs as pointed out above for the lb1560 it is obviously a great driver for tapped horns. Here is a 196L that shoulod get down to 35hz with some oomph.

You will need some EQ to make the Cubo sound flat. The same EQ can also be used to give the SS15 or THAM some extension... choices, choices choices.....

One more choice to add to the mix... is directivity. Tapped horns have it, hybrid reflex cabinets (cubo) don't...

Hey, where's my 40Hz TH??😀
Dag
I found that the 105lbs was too much for a single person and just a car to deal with easily. Yet apart from the ss15 I haven't checked too much into the weight of the others.Hey, where's my 40Hz TH??😀

That certainly does matter to me, as it is a good thing but not as much as the other criteria. One more choice to add to the mix... is directivity. Tapped horns have it, hybrid reflex cabinets (cubo) don't...
That's a very revealing plot thanks, the cubo does seam silly now since a little eq on the ss15 will give you the ability to pretty much change between the cubo style plot and the extra spl.![]()

Ah yes choices choices choices... Its a little sad that I only really need frequencies bellow 70hz so these subs will only really add that 20hz extension.. pretty measly really..
I know the rule of loud small low pick two but can you combine them
ie
loud (yes) low (yes) small (no) =2
but could you go, loud (somewhat) low (somewhat) small (somewhat) = 2? I would happily take a hit in spl of up to 8db to get to 35hz, which might bring me back to jbell's original plan of his little dance studio boxes.

Oh on the note of being flat, If it has any hump towards the lower cutoff then to me that's a good thing. I remember reading about the equal loudness contours witch pretty much state that the lower the frequencies are, the less loud we perceive them to be (even if they have the same acoustic power). That and I have never had much love of mid bass.

If your willing to drop 8db to get 35hz why don't you just use a BR?
