FreeDSP OCTAVIA

Hi sychan-San,
By cards you mean the Amanero USB->I2S, Raspberry Pi or USBi cards, right?
Well, it depends on your needs. FreeDSP OCTAVIA can be used without RPI or Amanero. In this case, you'll need USBi. But if you use RPI then USBi will be optional. Because EEPROM can be programmed via RPI's I2C as a TCPi. You can choose the various boards you like to use.

Hi Everyone,

Today I tried implementing the Electric Guitar Amp Simulator for play-along with FreeDSP OCTAVIA.
This was inherited from Stephan Moeller's VLOG project.
Some additional features are added. (Drive Gain Control, NoiseGate, Chorus Effect, Reverb, Cabinet Impulse Response, Additional EQ)

I used 2SK30A J-FET Source-Follower buffer for RCA-Analog Input. Adding a dedicated optional ADC board to I2S Input header will be better for permanent use.
Other Digital Sources can mixed with your Guitar Sound.

AUX1: Gain Control
AUX2: Chorus Effect
AUX3: Reverb Volume
AUX4: Guitar Sound Level

Hello again,
I checked today the availability of the parts. All parts are now available again. Last time I checked some transistors were still missing.
So we are almost ready to order.

I now need to know who wants to have one (firm commitment). To some of you I already spoke directly.Everyone else pls DM me if you are interested as well.
I think so far with the people I spoke i gathered interest for 9 boards. So 10 board order should be doable. If it is getting more than 10 boards we have to see if it worth splitting up the order depending on where you all are living (because of shipping costs)

Hello,

I have my DAC and ADC cards, which I would like to connect to I2S.
how many I2S ports are available or recoverable?
Is the DSP an ADAU1452 or ADAU1466?

Octavia will be used for audio filtering (Linkwitz transformed and LR4) and delay correction.

Thanks to all of you and congratulations to the developers and testers.

Serge B.

Hello sb-San,

The available I2S port is only one input. ADAU1452/1466 has four I2S input and output ports, but the I2S output is fully occupied by embedded DAC. Both DSP chips are useful, it depends on the chance of stocks and the ordering policy. (-$10 Cost vs Double Data Memory and little ASRC Performance difference)
Note: I will not be using the Raspberry or the Amanero Combo384.
In your case, you can use three I2S Inputs, but no I2S output as well...

The circuit board has been soldered, but it does not work properly. After importing the sample project, some channels do not have sound, only 0/1 treble output and one bass channel output. I think it's not a hardware problem. I'm not very good at using the SigmaStudio software.

Hi, small update to the group buy.
So far I have interest for 11(+1) boards. So if you want a second board or know someone who might be interested, let me know. I can only order 10 or 15.
with 15 boards the price should be around 120USD per board (incl tht components) with ADAU1466 (+ shipping to you; prices might also change a bit depending on availabilities on JLC)

After importing the new sample project, it still does not work properly, and the same problem still exists.
I guess you mean an output 32/33. Please check out the crossover frequency of the low output part. It must be below 0.1Hz. So please set it higher than 20Hz.

CyberPit Thank you for your reply. I replaced the 0/1 channel DAC-PCM5102A with a 32/33 channel and it worked. It seems that my DAC chip is broken. I will test it again after purchasing a new DAC chip. There is also a problem with the new demonstration project. Only the Amanero input source is valid, and other input sources are invalid.

ghfgh-San,

I recommend a hot air tool such as following this for an SMD rework.
858D Hot Air tool
You can use this not only for SMD rework but also to shrink the heat shrink isolation tubes as well.

This issue depends on a look-up-table as follows...
SourdeSelectLUT.png

My version 0.33j OVTAVIA board indicates values on top of the Level4 indicator.
SOURCE POSITION
Level4 VALUE
1.RPI (CCW)3.2
2.USB6.4
3.S/PDIF9.6
4.ANALOG (CW)12.96

So, In my case, LUT.txt will be like this...

If there's 1 left, I'd like to have it

Thanks
