Shunt regulators
Did someone listening test between any series voltage regulator and a voltage shunt regulator? (on any R-2R DAC).
There are plenty modifications of Salas shunt regulator. Since it's a shunt, I wouldn't want any active element in the series, so I slightly simplified one from 2009 and put 2 in a row. It holds the voltage under any load. The mirror version for the negative will be similar.
The main drawback of shunt regulator is the large power losses, in my case 20W 😡
No real test was performed by me, maybe it's not even stable.
Whether it makes sense to try ...

Spare PCB
Hi,
I would like to take up this project. Does any one has any spare PCB left.
Thanks
Kemp

I have a spare PCB; happy to send it to you for the cost of the shipping.
PM me with your location and I'll get a cost.

This is a kind guys thread and I like this much .
Don't say it to my family, they believe I'm a Hitman and a bouncer in a prostitutes bar !

Btw, some kind thougths toward that difficult job because the covid - I meant not the hitman job, the other one-
I need a pair AD1862. Any one with genuine spares, happy to pay.
Any chance for a new GB. We need four more people to join.🙂
Thanks,
Kemp

Any suggestions for USB to I2S converters suitable for this architecture ?
Thanks
I2SoverUSB - I2S over USB Audio
As @Vunce suggested is very good.
If your budget is low, look for PCM2706 based from china, it costs about 10USD. You can buy more expensive at any time later.

It looks like with this one no need for shift registers 🙂 have not tried though ..

In keeping with the spirit of the “Kind guys thread”, I wish you all have a very Merry Christmas time!!

You wanted it... you have it : Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You (Make My Wish Come True Edition) - YouTube : it's a blessed big stereo vision !
best X-Mas for all... well it's more a gift time than a spiritual moment today...

Nice Diyiggy!
You always give the gifts of capacitor combinations and permutations
Keep it up 🙂

I've got one on the way for my AD1862 project.
I'm going out on a limb with my project. I have some PCBs in transit that 'borrow' Miro's DAC section layout but I've omitted the shift registers and I'm replacing the output stage and will be using a Borbely tube/mosfet 'op-amp' circuit instead. My DAC section will stack directly onto the I2overUSB, which will obviously be configured to interface directly with the AD1862 devices. Could be a nice little new Year project.

That's the brand new White-Gates caps !😀

Definitely sounds cool, I’ll be tuned in😉
