Back in my engineering old days, we used to calculate magnetic flux losses etc.
Indeed the "donut" looks close and big... but it could work. It has to, you have it already LOL! What I would have done back then though, to get the best chances, is rotating it so that the cable / output faces exactly in the opposite direction of the most senstive parts.
I don't know if that still makes sense nowadays, but back then the part where the field radiated the most ("escaped somewhat") was at the cables output... so one would have wanted that part farthest away and facing in the opposite direction.
Just an idea...

Ah yes. Good advice. Mighty ZM shed light upon us! [emoji1317]
(Could have been a good joke, too... I shall use a used thuna-can, as somebody once recommended. Gnihihi.)
No seriously, I‘ll check it out and if it’s a problem, I‘ll either can the donut or make an external psu with lumbo-... mumbolical wire and use the free space for a dac[emoji4] ... many months later.

R20 is the input resistor and you are correct on R17.
Hi Wayne, to make Balance input to Unbalance output unity gain will making the R20, R44, R17 and R29 100k work?
Thanks
I'll send the right ones.![]()
Can you clarify what is special about these particular LEDs? I know they act as a cc source, but it gets foggy after that and I start imagining I am in front of a deef fryer, content.
They act as a voltage reference, and the particular specified
part has a very narrow tolerance. (Which is good)

Also R43,R16 100K
Thanks Wayne I appreciate your help. I'm waiting for a cap order from Mouser as soon as it comes in I will put it in and post some pics..
I'm thinking about building this preamp in separate halves, left and right channels.
Any advice on how to cut the board in half?

Make it balanced... This would require two boards.

@myleftear
Yikes! (and I was just listening to "The Cape" by Guy Clark.. a leap of faith indeed!)
How'd it turn out for you? A clean break?
@6L6 I'll look into that too. Thanks.

I didn‘t spilt it. Because I was thinking of it after soldering the popularion. Since I hadn‘t the right tools to clamp it without crushing the parts, I decided (twice) to leave it as it is.
It‘s still not finished, but almostalmost! Sssiigh [emoji849]

Interesting. (Btw my progress typically makes a snail look like a reasonable choice to play the roadrunner from the cartoon.)
