apex 555 dont have short circuit and overload protection...while your amp is perefesionall and need a perefesional protection too.
plz search in google abuot (ahmed yerli protection)..its complet protection or see below link....i test it with ax17...

you can replace 2sc5200 /2sa1943 with on-semi devices njw 3281/ 1302, mjl4281/4302, etc without any problems.
if you dont want bjt's, then go for apex mosfet amplifiers like fx-8, fx-8 bimo mod and fh-9 xrk mod, fx-100 etc. and many many more...

If you are referring to the AX14 schematic, it can use many different output transistors. I actually had 2SC5200 and 2SA1943, scavenged from an old amp. Any of onsemi MJL1302 , MJL3281 MJL4281 and their complementaries are good choices and have better SOA.

Than for the suggestions guys. I have a huge transformer and rectifier board that came out of a Marantz PM80 which I would like to use for my next build. And the 50-0-50vdc Im getting from that is just perfect for the AX14. I guess Im going to have to wait till lockdown is finished to get my parts.
For those that have heard the AX14 and the FH9, in your opinion, which one sounds more musical? For music purposes that is. Im going to build either one, was just hoping for a bit of a guide to choose. If parts be a concern, the FH9 would be a better option for me as it doesnt use the 2SC5200 and the 2SA1943's which I have a problem getting
That looks awesome and compact. Will it accept only schuter IEC plugs or any IEC sockets like with fuse in-built also possible? Do you have gerber files for this boards to share?

Accept only SCHURTER IEC Plug (D22.1121.1111), which is with fuse and switch, i will post the Gerber file when my A40 project is done..
