A semi- on-topic return. Caffeine... the low end of the speed spectrum.Scat coffee isn't half bad.
I'll get a stomach ache long before the music sounds better.
But I'll pass on any scat coffee, thank you.
I've never really liked caffeine TBH. It just makes you sweat and feel anxious as opposed to actually helping you do stuff. My impressions of course 🙂 .
Now a cheeky bong that always helps improve the music. I find myself noticing things in songs I've listened to many times before when toasted. It really is quite nice 😛 !

I agree. I used to work nightshift and would drink lots of coffee to stay awake, but you end up so wired you can't think straight! Allegedly excessive use of these caffeine based stay awake pills can lead to heart attacks and strokes, I couldn't find any research to support this claim however.
Not sure what the combined effect of a bong and lots of coffee would be, though. 😛
Gordon.
I think that's called, "taking the edge off." 🙂Not sure what the combined effect of a bong and lots of coffee would be, though. 😛
I don't really like caffeine much, either. I am very sensitive to it. I have one coffee in the morning, and if I have any more I get shaky and irritable. If I have any after noon, I don't sleep well at all. Today is one of those days. My wife talked me into a late evening photo shoot at a local performance. I'm tired already (4pm) so I just had a coffee to get me through the evening. I'll be in bed with wide eyes at 2am, I am sure. Oh well. A hundred bucks is a hundred bucks.
I'm one of those strange people, apparently 🙂, where a coffee hit means zilch regarding mental state. I always do strong coffees, and can have one just before going to bed with zero effect - I enjoy the flavour hit, and it's a more pleasant way of getting my daily intake of water ...
I'm even stranger then -- sometime around my late 50's I changed from waking up with java to a situation where a cup of coffee would now put me sound asleep. I had to stop taking my morning travel cup of brew with me on the way to work for fear I'd nod off on the freeway. No good explanation found for it (doctor suggested "warm liquid" doing it, but I doubt that).
very sensitive to it.
Try espresso bean coffee.
I'm oversensitive to regular coffee beans, robusta.
Same symptoms as you, plus stomach issues, increased sweating, and sometimes it makes my heart go giddyup.
I can drink espresso all day, arabica beans, without any of the above mentioned.
Also tastes way better.
Weed and caffeine don't mix IMO. You have the sort of overactive caffeine buzz combined with the stone and it makes you really paranoid, like thinking up all kinds of crazy stuff and generally makes you dysphoric. You just feel sweaty and clammy and the weed heightens it, quite unpleasant 🙁 .
I'd prefer a bong before bedtime so I could sleep soundly before the next day starts rather than gulping down coffee in the morning.

A cup of coffee and a fattie first thing...doesn't happen near as often as it used to but sure is a nice way to start out the day.
I have a friend who once said "you can't drink all day unless you start in the morning"
I am also sensitive to caffeine...none after lunch or no sleep for me.

Caffeine is just another drug and as noted before, individualities of mind and metabolism make it's effects somewhat different for different persons.
My father was one of those who could drink a cup or more right before bedtime. Some folks have that morning jones and aren't the same without an early fix. I'm not that hooked.
And I definitely choose uppers over downers. Sure, Xanax will take the edge off also, but makes things a little too dull.

Life sucks without coffee.
Tell me about it. I had to get off of caffeine entirely. It has been some 26 years now since I had a cup of 'leaded' coffee. I was very addicted and hypersensitive to it, a missed dose meant a massive migraine that lasted until the following day.
I think the sensitivity started early. I suffered from migraines starting at age 4 or 5 and they hit me pretty often. One of the standard medications back then was ergotamine tartrate (the same stuff that is the raw material for LSD, actually). It wasn't very effective, but what my young self didn't really realize was the effect of the 100 mg. of caffeine in each tablet. Imagine giving an 8 year old 300 mg. of caffeine over a couple of hours! Routine use of those probably led to the kind of sensitivity I had when when I hit college and started using caffeine daily. Getting off of the caffeine reduced my headache frequency quite a bit, but damn I still miss it in the afternoon when trying to stay awake in a dull meeting. I can't even drink a decaf at Starbucks, still way too caffeinated. Grocery store decaf (like TJ's decaf French roast) I can drink, but even then I don't overdo it. No tea, no Coke (or coke for that matter), etc.
As an aside, when it was clear that the ergot wasn't giving me any relief, my doctor prescribed barbiturates to knock me out until the headache passed. Nice. Once I hit high school and could read up for myself, I stopped eating chocolate, oranges and cheddar cheese, all of which are common migraine triggers, and that made a huge difference. I miss all of those things, too!

Spoken like a true addict. 🙂
I have no problem with coffee/caffeine.
I do get a light and pleasant buzz but I don't need it to function in morning and I can quite easily go to sleep minutes after a large mug.
Suppose some build up of tolerance is to be expected after nearly 40 years of use.
On the other hand when I was in hospital the doctors and nurses recommended coffee as a headache remedy, may be that's why I don't get them that often.

I sometimes enjoy a percolated coffee just before bedtime....I then sleep well.
Coffee in the morning does not perk me up, but is enjoyable.
I once downed a few caffeine tablets before a bike race and that hindered my performance.
