Very Nice!
Very nice and stylish!Big Thanks to many from this first-time builder! This forum has been an extremely helpful source of information as I completed the preamp. Thanks to all of you who contributed. And of course to Wayne for providing the design, having boards made, etc. Special thanks go to my local "go to" resource person here in Davis -- Bob Flocchini. Bob provided great advice every time I got stuck with this build. Here are the parts I used if interested.

I have one more question regarding my build for a balanced Waynes Preamp.
If I want to add balance controls for Left and Right, I am thinking of using a standard stereo Alps Blue RK27 for each channel then a fully balanced knob for the main volume.
What should the impedance of each one be?
So, let's say my balanced main volume pot is a 50k, should the left and right also be 50k or something different?
Thanks!

just use one mono vol pot per channel, why doubling them?
you'll find operation with two pots much easier than you think

Yes. That was my plan, one pot per channel plus the balanced master pot for a total of three.
I just needed help determining if the impedance matters or not.

one way or another, it's best using balance pot which is not loading (floated) when in mid position, so attenuating one channel only when pot is rotated from middle
anyway, situation you explained is as having cascade of two pots - so simple calculus of them in parallel will give you answer
so, if you use one of 50K and second of 50K, you'll end with approx. 25K loading preceding stage ( source)

Ok. I can go the route of a SINGLE pot to accomplish this. Can I get an idea of which to buy for my purpose? and any wiring diagram?
Have you tried that one? I have a single-ended khozmo but getting a Khozmo in balanced is getting pretty rich.
Only once, I've used these on several projects and have these two left. 24 step four gang vishay dale resistors. I've found both types on ebay and ali, they are harder to find lately.
I've even found relay / resistor balanced controls along with selectors using relays and remote control, I used that on my Balanced BA2018 preamp.

hificollective.com are listing it.
acoustic-dimension.com and partsconnection.com have the stereo version in the catalogue, how far away are 4 channels?
or some others here: http://www.tkd-corp.com/en/product.html#stepvr (gets my drooling)

A standard stereo pot, one for each channel, works beautifully for balanced circuits.
At first glance dual volume controls may seem strange and/or inconvienient for a preamp, but in reality it’s very nice and you get balance control for free, and without any additional circuitry.

Those are pretty neat. I have a cheapo stereo stepped attenuator that I bought off Ebay. I think it was $20-$30 but did have film resistors on it. I liked it other than the fact that the preload on the shaft was set very high and it was non-adjustable.
Hi all. I’m upgrading the power supply of my line stage to the glassware dual LV reg. I can’t find it written anywhere but based on some photos I’ve seen in the thread, it looks like this is how it’s wired to the LS. Can someone please confirm if I have the wiring right?
Also, I bought one of THESE in the 12V version for switching power on and off but I can’t get my head around how to connect it with the dual supply. Do I actually need the 240V version and put it between the IEC and the transformer? Or is there something else I’m not getting?
Could I connect it between the two primaries that are joined to make the transformer 240V? Sorry if these are dumb questions.
Thanks in advance 🙂
