Treatments for reversing hearing loss

About Gary Null

Ha, Ha, Ha... It just shows just how trustable Quackwatch is.

Here is a statement by Stephen Barrrett on Quackwatch:

"Null is prone to see conspiracies behind many of the things he is concerned about. One of his targets has been the pharmaceutical industry, which, he says, "cannot afford to have an alternative therapy accepted." He promotes hundreds of ideas that are inaccurate, unscientific, and/or unproven. He calls fluoridation "deadly" and has spoken out against immunization, food irradiation, amalgam fillings, and many forms of proven medical treatment. His series on "The Politics of Cancer," which was published in Penthouse magazine in 1979 and 1980, promoted unproven methods that he said were being "suppressed" by the medical establishment. His lengthy series, "Medical Genocide," began appearing in Penthouse in 1985 with an article calling our medical care system a "prescription for disaster" and claiming that modern medicine has had virtually no effect on heart disease, cancer, and arthritis [1]. Other articles in the series promoted chiropractic and homeopathy, claimed that effective nutritional methods for treating AIDS were being suppressed, claimed that chelation therapy was safe and effective for treating heart disease, and endorsed several treatments for cancer that the American Cancer Society recommends against. His Web site contains a huge amount of misinformation and bad advice."

Who is the real quack here, Stephan Barrett, the person who wrote the piece about Gary Null.

About 90 percent of cancer and virtually all of heart disease and osteo-arthritis is caused by diet. Yet the medical-industrial complex will not acknowledge this fact. Gary Null is spot on.

If I were to get into a car accident, I would want to be taken to a hospital in the US which has excellent treatment for acute injuries - it is amazing. But for virtually all chronic disease, it is a joke. Gary Null is far and away not alone about this. Dean Ornish showed that heart disease can be reversed without stints, bypass surgery and medication, by using diet, meditation and exercise. All of it was published in peer reviewed studies. Again, the medical-industrial complex is at work here using modalities they can make money on at the expense of the public. All about greed.

Gary Null bragged about how fast his hair grew. A lot of people did not believe him. So he cut his hair off so he was bald and his hair was down to his shoulders in a remarkably short order of time (I don't recall the specifics, but it was unbelievable - I believe that his hair grew something like 1/4 inch per week). I think I recall him saying that he ate the equivalent of 135 pounds of fruits and vegetables every day, because he ate both fresh and dried fruits and vegetables. He consumed an amazing quantity of phytochemicals.

Why is this relevant to this conversation? Because if you want slow (and possibly reverse) hearing loss, you have to get extreme about diet.

... you forgot to quote the parts about Null's legal problems. Quack, quack, quack. Or at least mostly quack.

Do you believe that all MD's and legitimate medical researchers in all countries around the world have entered into a conspiracy to make you (or keep you) sick for some unknown purpose benefiting themselves or benefiting some secret cabal that controls all of them?

I am pretty sure that Gary's problems stemmed from what most supplement manufactures do, which is have the supplements manufactured in China at a very low cost. The problem is that the quality control is very poor. In some cases the product has little to none of the intended supplement.

No, not all doctors. A lot of doctors believe that they are doing the best that they can, based on their training. There are quite a few, though, which understand that diet can achieve better results than what they prescribe, but feel that the consumers will not change their diet, so why bother. A lot of them make a lot of money treating cancer and heart disease, in particular, and are quite happy making all that money and really don't care about making their patients well, just alleviating their symptoms. These are the surgeons, for example. This is why we have an oversupply of surgeons in the US, and an undersupply of general practitioners.

I happened by an American Cancer Society fundraiser, and I checked out what was going on. People were walking around a track and raising money per lap. So what was being served for food (provided by the ACS) at this event??? Hamburgers on white buns with catsup and mustard. Let's see, feed people cancer causing foods at a ACS fundraising event. Do you think that the ACS has any intent on ending cancer??? (at least through dietary means, which only earns nutritionist salaries). No, they want to keep the surgeons and cancer specialists happy. What a joke.

... if I recall the article correctly, you forgot to mention that Null got his credentials from discredited pay-to-play schools with totally phony degrees.

Why do you suppose he did that?

Do you still say, "Certainly one of the most competent nutritionist of our time is Gary Null"? Aren't there a great many nutritionist associated with Harvard and other distinguished seats of learning?

Tinnitus can also be caused by aenemia or high blood presure. You could try consulting your doctor about these things, also I think workout sessions help.I get tinnitus from playing my big ugly speakers way too loud, but it fades away after a couple of minutes.

The reliable cure for hearing loss is a pair of hearing aids...oh and if you think scientific medicine is all wrong please explain why in my youth (1950s-60s) most people died in their late-60s to early 70s whereas today we are awash in people in their 80s with a significant fraction in their 90s.

In our own local newspaper it's not uncommon to read a slew of 60th or even a few 70th anniversary announcements every week, and just today was an obit for an ole gal who made it to 107. Maybe there's something (not) in the water hereabouts?

It's probably safe to say that few of the nonagenarians or even centenarians had the same level of health care available in their first couple decades that we now take for granted. And as my onw mom & dad exemplify there's those born in the 1920 -30s who never expected to survive into their 9th decade so didn't take care of themselves. Some of them simply have great genes - my mom may well dance on my grave - but others are falling apart and starting to overwhelm "extended care" facilities. Now that's one I think is a growth industry - thanks to the plethora of intervention technologies now available, people are not quite dying to get in.

I am not saying that hearing aids help, however just as the more esoteric technologies are explored in the name of Hi Fi audio, maybe it would be good to try to find out if there are effective alternative therapies around.

For example the treatment for diabetes, a herbal treatment, was found to be effective by 'science' and an attempt was made to patent it. There may be other cures out there.

Patent US8993008 - Herbal composition for treating diabetes - Google Patents

Here is a website which suggests some actions and some supplements to take to reverse hearing loss:

Restore Hearing Loss, Restore Lost Hearing

Here is a run-down on the charlatan Julian Whitaker who Retsel is touting in his link above.

It is one thing for Retsel and BasicHiFi to hold "alternative" belief systems and espouse medical conspiracies. But it shows really bad judgment to falsely promote this nonsense to other people as treatments and cures.

Alternative treatments for hearing loss

I am not "promoting" the suggested interventions by Julian Whitaker. If you read my post, I only reference the website and the claims made. It is up to the readers who have hearing loss and want to improve their situation to do their own research.

Notice that the piece by Whitaker discusses the results of scientific studies which seem to demonstrate that the supplements are effective towards improving hearing loss. My suggestion would be for someone interested in reversing hearing loss to try to find those studies and judge for themselves if the studies were done in a scientific manner that tries to eliminate potential bias. As always, even if the scientific trials were conducted in a sound manner, there is always a chance for bias to affect the results. This is sometimes why scientific trials are conflicting.

The suggested interventions are not dramatic and not that expensive. Someone with hearing loss might simply want to try the supplements, and of course, make sure that their ears are free from wax buildup.

I did a Google search and there does seem to be some research and some findings which show that microcurrent has been effective against tinnitus (mostly), and also effective against hearing loss. I won't post the websites here as Bentoronto, apparently the Web watchdog, may pounce on my post yet again : ) If interested, do your own Google search. If still interested, you would need to find a microcurrent practitioner in your area, or do a lot more research about how to give yourself microcurrent treatments.

That's just plain double-talk.... usually characterized using more barn-yard metaphors. You cite Whitaker which means you are advocating for folks here to check out his dangerous website.

Please stop.

On a lighter note, this video (hope it shows) shows how the ear works - it is really complicated and amazing. Hammer stirrups etc..
https://www.facebook.com/237206835068/videos/10153922965855069/

It may shed some light on how to correct problems. Remember that every cell in the body renews itself every few years, so every cell in the ear system is a new one, if somehow there is a way to make sure the cells are regenerated correctly one could at least preserve hearing.

From same site: this is interesting

Auditory brain stem implants (ABIs) are different from cochlear implants. Instead of placing the stimulator in the cochlea, an ABI is placed directly on the brain.
Right now, ABIs are only being used in a small group of people who have a missing or nonfunctioning cochlear nerve. This is usually the case for people who have a rare inherited disorder called neurofibromatosis type II (NF-2). There are several centers in the U.S. performing auditory brain stem implant trials in both adults and children without NF-2.
