Yeee I looked at audiobah board again. If close decoupling of tpachip is important, I always wonder how audiobah board can be good. I think it is board with largest distance between tpachip and power decoupling ceramics.
(and power trace crossing under inputsignaltraces...also weird)
It doesn't. Atleast if compared to the YUANG JING boards.
Bellow is what I have measured :
Red YJ ( 81 * 69mm ) :
Audio inputs to TPA3116 inputs: 22 mm
Input of TPA3116 to input cap: 5 mm
TPA3116 output pin to bootstrap cap : 5 mm
TPA3116 PVCC to positive leg of supply decoupling cap : 18 mm
Black/Blue YJ ( 103*58mm ) :
Audio inputs to TPA3116 inputs: 27mm
Input of TPA3116 to input caps: 22mm
TPA3116 output pin to bootstrap cap : 10mm
TPA3116 PVCC to positive leg of supply decoupling cap : 17mm
Audiobah Green ( 65 * 69 mm ):
Audio inputs to TPA3116 inputs: 17mm
Input of TPA3116 to input caps: 5 mm
TPA3116 output pin to bootstrap cap : 5mm
TPA3116 PVCC to positive leg of supply decoupling cap : 11mm

Closeness of decoupling caps to the IC is important but probably not as important as whether the current loop formed by the IC+cap has any shared copper with an audio signal or analog power supply ground. This is called 'common ground impedance coupling' and its the enemy of SQ in my experience.
I'm in the process of removing caps which have their 0V into the ground fill on my board - just leaving ones I soldered myself onto the backside of the board. Thus is a 'suck it and see' approach as I can't examine where the decoupling currents are going within the fill without removing the IC from the board.
foto can deceive.
so not all are closer.
powertrace looks strange there, most take outputside if they cross?
(wiener has close decoupling, closer then audiobah I mean, but maybe grounds less separated?)

Is Audiobah same as Ybdz or 'Wiener' board?
xrk,
No, it is the one listed at EBAY by Audiobah, which is also available from TB:
TIÊý×Ö¹¦·Å°å 50W+50WË«ÉùµÀ/100Wµ¥ÉùµÀ! СÌå»ý£¬´ó¹¦ÂÊ!-ÌÔ±¦Íø
I bought two of them and plan to run them as mono block. When I tested them as stereo with a TVC, I like its sound better than the Red YJ board (with a pot). BTW, I powered the Red board with a 24 V laptop brick whereas a 24 V SMPS (from EBAY) was used with the Audiobah boards.

Bought this TPA-3116 D2 2.1 amp on ebay, for my DIY PC speaker system. What are your thoughts?

Looks like a right hatchet job to me. I've rarely seen such poor quality soldering on a commercially sold board and they didn't clean up the flux residue. Why the reverse side mounted caps I wonder?
like they decided to use inductors a little larger then planned originally, some elco's top also look as if vent already was used, or is it dust?
😀edit: it also looks familiar, like a board I modded and forgot to clean😀

Yeah I know how bad soldering looks because its so familiar under my own magnifying viewer 😀 Would never put one of my hand-soldered boards on eBay though....

Wow! Thats a mess, i hope it performs better than the finish on the board.

Yikes! That's a real mess. The board that ended up in my buddy's Breeze amp was in much better shape.

Aside from the poor soldering, how does the unit sound? I was actually eyeing one of these since they are about $20 cheaper than getting the finished Breeze 2.1.
I haven't been impressed with the Breeze 2.1 finished unit vs the YJ blue/black 2.0.
pots seem cheap, led ain't right--it's on any time unit is plugged in, big time spark from back panel when you plug in laptop brick, not very loud, etc.
Only thing I liked is that it will drive a sub.

agreed - could be poor PCB layout didn't accommodate for physical size of components on main side?
that said, it could still sound just fine
Certainly it could sound perfectly OK even when looking like a dog's dinner. Most of my own creations are just like that 😀
I've reached the end of playing with my own board. I couldn't get the bass I wanted from it (which I obtained from my DAC design only by obscene numbers of caps on the rails). I went as far as 100,000uF decoupling to pin17 but still not quite the sound I was looking for. TPA3116 is a really fine chip, it just doesn't deliver the ultimate bass slam and weight - I think because of the internal LDO regulator for the analog supply. So I went looking for a class D chip which has no internal reg and found NXP's TDA8932 - anyone here played with that?

Similar Observations !
Everyone who commented pretty much confirmed my thoughts exactly. Needless to say, I have no idea what it sounds like, because I only plugged it in and powered it up briefly to verify that nothing goes BOOM ! I'm a little scared to leave it on for any length of time. I contacted the seller, and expressed my displeasure with the product and forwarded lots of pictures. I told them that the workmanship was poor (as if they didn't already know) and requested a refund. The funny this is, the seller sold all of them. I guess the saying ' You get what you pay for " holds alot of water..hahah.. lesson learned.🙄

I thought I had obscene bass with sure tpa3110, which also has LDO I just checked. gain 20db, mks inputcaps to fight the HP filter, and nichicon FG next to chip and 6000uF nichicon HZ near dcinput plus 2000uF panasonic FM (8x1000uF on dcinput 12v, 2 x 1000 near chip). I did not try with 3116, just noticed it was little less rolling bass lol and thought bass with 3110 was too much anyway LOL
nichicon fg bass is a bit warm/blurred but loud, panasonic is very detailed and loud 😀 nichicon HZ very calm sounding, bought them for extreme ripple numbers and extreme esr too
Extreme esr is fine but for extremely detailed yet delicate bass, there seems to be no substitute for sheer uF. Or F 😀
I mean just the HZ's didn't give that bass, I had 2 next to chip and 16 on input, I thought that was much 😀, bass was ok, not close to obscene in my book🙂
I have a friend that sometimes comes over to listen to some music/audio LOL, when it comes to bass he often gets me to follow him to his lexus LS in the driveway and then he shows me what bass should be (according to ML's (LG?) flat dsp LOL). There always seems to be more bass in his car, untill we listened to that (FG/HZ/FM) little 3110 LOLOL (I hate walking to that car LOL) I don't have that combo here anymore, I thought it was too much, he was extremely happy to take it home🙂

I would imagine it is difficult to compare amplifiers with all that LOL going on?
