I've compared Daphile to HQPlayer. Daphile sounds fine when playing direct DSD (eg from a DSF file with no upsampling). But PCM files converted to DSD dont sound right to me. IMHO, the quality of the the conversion is much better with HQPlayer. HQPlayer costs more but it is well worth it IMHO. Anyway you can get a free trial with HQPlayer so you try it before you buy. I strongly recommend it.
Hi Ray
I actually got it last Saturday as you had predicted.
Apologies for the late updare. It was a difficult week....
Many thanks
Giulio
P.S. Have you tried the higher current flip flop?

Have you compared the SQ of PCM HQPlayer vs Daphile?
Caution - DANGER!!!
Hi, I found an error on the cards. Both cards, single ended and flip flop. The connection with jlsounds card, 1, 2 and 10, are joined together. Only 2 and 10, which are ground were to be joined together. In addition, I noticed that the output of the flipflop between + and -, and between + and ground, there are 5v in both channels and not a few mv as mentioned in various tread. Fortunately, I have not broken the i2s, I hope it is also saved reclocks ...

Also if you do another run, the outputs are labeled in a strange way. Don't know what O/P means for the balanced side, and +/0 or +/G for the single ended makes more sense.
EVERYBODY PLEASE WAIT...
...while I check the issue out.

OK I see the problem
I feel a complete idiot; somehow I have inadvertently reversed the pad clearances on the 'dirty side' connector.
This is what the board should look like;
With G1 connected to the ground plane and 5V isolated from it.
The issue is correctable as per below;
1. Cut the PCB tracks where I have shown blue crosses.
2. Insert some wire links as per the brown lines.
3. Connect ground and 5V as shown in pink.
I don't understand how I introduced this error as I've had no problem with the previous boards and I'm really very sorry for the problems I've caused.
Fabio. how were you powering your project? The problem above will have set the dirty side ground plane to 5V and if you're not using isolation I think that would give the readings you're seeing.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

O/P is simply an abbreviation of 'output'. So "R O/P" is the right output and the positive and negative labels are at the other side of the pads.
Firstly, I've sent everyone in the GB a PM pointing them at the correction I posted above, which will hopefully stop anyone else ending up with a situation like Fabio's.
Please note that I haven't bottomed out the problem s Fabio encountered yet.
Now that I have had time to think about the situation I feel mortified that I made this error and I feel I need to offer to make amends.
If anyone is unhappy with having to modify their PCB(s) please let me know and I will order some additional boards and send replacements.

Actually, upon reflection, I don't think that is good enough as I can foresee somebody forgetting to make the modification.
As soon as possible I'll order and despatch replacement PCBs for everyone in the group buy.
Tomorrow I will assemble a modified board and check that everything else is OK so I'll hopefully be able to order the replacements on Monday.
In the meantime I suggest you discard the faulty PCBs. Apologies that this will inconvenience you.

PCB Problem
Hi Ray
Please don't be so hard on yourself.
You created the PCBs in your time and the prices you charged are very low even for a DIY project. You do not owe any of us an apology.
If anyone is struggling to make the (minor) modifications I am sure that we can all pull together and help them out.
Thanks once again for making this project possible for so many.

Hi Ray, Smile, these things are not important and we can fix it. I have a dual power supply, the jumper on i2s has risen. Later, when I leave work, I'll do some testing.
Ray, thank you again for your job! You are a valuable person. Bye Fabio.

Ray, you've already done so much. We'll manage to cut a couple of traces. Don't even think about it.

Ray don't worry I don't need the new modified board. I only need to be sure if doing the modification the board works OK?

Come on Ray, we all agree your work is great... 🙂
