BA-3 was very good, it seemed like the extra df was helpful not only wrt bass but also in making the general frequency response more comfy. AJ zen mod edition was very sugary and good but a bit slow. AJ MZM with SJEP is very good and has more control but not quite the soul (distortion) og the AJ, but this can be adjusted. F2J was a total mismatch as expected, but might work very well for the top with an active XO. Haven’t tried other amps yet.

My System 15 DMTii did sing bi-amped with my Babelfish J2. New boxes not with standing.

Albeit…not as well with my old AI tube pre as it did with my KISSed Hypno DCB1 with Jensen iron on the output…appears that tube pre was a mismatch. The Hypno pre is destined to live with my F2J as a favorite with various wide bands.

The DMT and BJ2 await the arrival of my Iron Pumpkin…which will be the foundation of my “big boy” adventures.

Yeah yeah yeah

Only other option I currently have is the GRF cabinets I picked up cheap…but they need time and work…as does everything it seems!

I’m hoping for a more productive fall/winter.

I also found a guy on Reverb advertising Altec/Tannoy cabinets at a sane price who is not too far from me. I might inquire as to whether he could build me the TLs I want.

I already have all the bits I need to try the CPA crossover.

I am curious to try biamping using only output stages of same kind but adjusted for different kind of thd profiles.
Pooh ops can be easily adjusted for this or the sePP(Muff with adjustable modulation on the ccs).
I am not experiencing slow sound with none of the output stages I tried until now.

The building of the new enclosures gives me a bit of impatience but I think I finally found someone in a near town that is able to do the job and for quite cheap. Now I need to see for some funds 😁

Interesting thread I seem to have fallen into this morning! I'm on page 6!
Do these look like Tannoys? I realise they are not coaxial as no tweeter but the 3 screw holes are present. Not seen a cast 4 spoke basket in this thread yet.

So those Arlingtons were collectibles. Apparently in tip top shape with the most popular driver, meaning my max 1k goal was irrelevant. In fact, if I told him I would toss the boxes, he would never sell them to me. He prefers a collector, in Norway. So that is not gonna happen and will likely not be worth it anyways.

On another note a professional speaker producer - for the professional / PA market primarily, sez my secret Bač ML design seems very, very good, and that if I have them made with him he will have them look as fancy as Tannoys/Fynes and that the sound potential is very good with those boxes. But his prices were insane, although if I do it some time it will be pretty plug and play.
