Start with easy stuff like sot-23, 0805/1206. get some nice tweezers. you need two irons to make it easy to remove passives. small chisel tip, lots of light, magnification(big eye), use the right solder, I use AIM glow-core tin(63)/lead(37) no-clean, 0.015"
We all have favorite transistors. Mine 2n4403 and 2n4401. Does anyone have experience with MMBT4401/4403. Are the ON dies the same with the same noise and high base spreading resistance. Thanks for the comments. What brand of SMT resin/glue and where can I obtain it? I guess I'll have to buy a 3d microscope. Ray
It would seem to me that any hot gun or toaster oven would risk frying melting the transistor junctions unless you could heat sink the lead with a hemostat or locking tweezer. Ray
What you are getting into ...
(below)
Relative size.
I will stay with D-pac - TO-252 - Wikipedia .
And SOT -223 - Small-outline transistor - Wikipedia
SOT23-3 is alright.
, no-363 ... I might have to go SOT23-6 for those cool matched pairs.
no 2mm parts , I'm older , too.

I'm 50/50 about SMD sadly I also have gorilla hands and not as steady like used to be I think can be mix both devices SMD and traditional through holes devices I never use SMD devices but I'm willing to learn why not right?

For sure you can do it..😉😉
SOT-26, for but there is a SOT-23-6 as well.
SOT-223 is your mid power device.
D-PAK for more power.
All the popular devices 2n440x,390x, are available in the SOT-26. Even Toshiba makes some parts in the SOT-26.
I would think that they are the same dice just in a different package, they say they use die from adjacent parts on the wafer to guarantee match, they are not dual monolythic.
smd IR process requires a specific temperature profile gradient, it is shown in numerous publications.
I have a hot air machine and a couple of irons, no need for expensive equipment unless you are doing volumes.
I recall gmash was using a stencil, paste and his skillet, but he knew the required rates/temp, there is some variation in the profile.

Thanks Pete" So glad to see you back here and still prying into the mysteries of amp design.I hope your trek out west was enjoyable and mindful. Are there any updates to Spooky V1.3 as to parts sub. I built Marshal Leach super-amps in 1976 and wound up replacing almost every part on the board due to his constant tweaking. So much so that I lifted many pads from the board. But things change and all Marshal had was fortran on a mainframe. I'm now building spooky v1.3. It will be the last series of amps I build. I'm not an EE just a music lover. Ray
Hi..
Please Help...
Somebody please help me to locate the layout for Spooky V 1.2 IPS
Thanks and regards,
Sumesh

Here is a gift to everyone. ALL the slewmasters.
.lay for sprint , some of the IPS coppers , prints.
With sprint 6 , spooky V1.2 can be sent to a printer.
Download Sprint-Layout 6.0
One zip is ALL the simulations + models.
The second is ALL the layout files for OPS/IPS.

Greenam V1.2 U1 correct part
hello is this U1 TL072CN the correct one it ends in CN? I just wanna be sure maybe is a typo error I'm not sure also I'm confuse cause pin 1 is output why it said Offset Null 1? 😕

It is usually the single op-amps that have the offset null pins.
The datasheet shows the output = pin 1.
Any dual 8 pin dual amp DIP does not have any extra pins for "null".

Hi Vargas, taida datasheet is old, better always search the chip manufacturer's page.hello is this U1 TL072CN the correct one it ends in CN? I just wanna be sure maybe is a typo error I'm not sure also I'm confuse cause pin 1 is output why it said Offset Null 1? 😕

Front end differential pair on Spooky
According to the datasheets, the complementary pair for KSC1845 is KSA992. But in the spooky leach, KSA1015 is used instead of KSA992 is the differential pair.
Is there a specific reason for this?

Sumesh

ST has "mixed" the pinouts for the single opamp and dual opamp configurations somehow 🙄
Here is a good datasheet from TI showing the possible options correctly:

JLCPCB are gonna sponsor my order they did already
hey guys I was lucky that JLCPCB are gonna sponsor me an order that I did of the Arc welder I have the files for a long time and I always wanna to try the new OPS "I mean few year ago" I know that OS is making a new OPS but I be just happy to have this one this is the same one I just tweaked a few weeks ago to my needs I mean fancy style 😀

Since Spooky is cascoded a lower Vceo pair can be used (1015/1815).According to the datasheets, the complementary pair for KSC1845 is KSA992. But in the spooky leach, KSA1015 is used instead of KSA992 is the differential pair.

992/1845 needs to be used for the cascode since it sees full rail.
For the spooky , any >30v pair can be used , comp. pair only sees 12V.
