I just did the two mods TIBI recommended. The single capacitor mod went well. However after replacing the two others the mechanism now doesn't read TOC. Disk spins but (faster than before) but is unable to read. Suggestions on what to look for?

Longtime....but I have been busy...
Question ...is your modified laser unit (we did multiple mods on it) still stable...
I got two out of three malfunctioning after a couple of months.
The one I kept for myself is still playing incredibly nice...but it looks like there is something going on......I am quite curiuos

XO soldering
Tent labs advises not to solder the legs of their XO module, but instead to use a socket provided with the piece. Nasty solution... Has anybody had a problem with the XO module by soldering it directly?

For sure the issue come from your soldering.
Use a 10X magnifying glass, or take few macro pictures with a good camera/phone and zoom.

There are plenty of LDO regulators who claim over 1A, but only very few will go over 1A in continuous operation without exceeding SOA.
Spartan, you need to take care of input voltage and power disipated and for sure your LDO will not handle this.
LT1086 is more feasible, but a little more noisy.

After installing Your LDO on V3+V4 Shiga doesn`t work ok.I removed L5+L9,put that 8V Wire and installed LDO. Now it starts spinning real slow ,stops and than starts slow spinning and can`t read CD.Any Idea what to do ?
