How do I check the ac voltage ?
Set meter to ac volts and do I use a sine wave or just measure the voltage

Increase the RCA (signal source) to about 0.2 and measure again.
Confirm that you read 0 ohms between the RCA shields (plugged into the amp) and the amp ground terminal.

I checked the head unit and the rca shield to the case of head unit is 0.04 ohms .
if I plug the rca jacks into the amp I get 164 ohms between rca shield and amps ground terminal
if I plug the rca jacks into the amp I get 164 ohms between rca shield and amps ground terminal
Ok I reversed the probes and get 0.04 ohms between amps ground terminal and rca shield plugged into the amp
0.04 ohms from case of head unit to amps ground terminal .
I also noticed the amp has output just very low and distorted .

How can you get 164 ohms between the shields and the amp ground when you have essentially 0 ohms between the shield and case and 0 ohms between the case and supply ground?
I replaced the batteries in my meter and I get 0.04 ohms from rca shield plugged into the amp to ground terminal of the amp in both directions
