Hi George,
Thanks for the kind words. 🙂
I wonder if Danley was referring to the same cancellation mode for cone-to-cone (closed to closed boundary condition)? That would be 1/2 wave and not quarter wave which is closed to open ended boundary condition.

xrk971 keep up the great work!
The ¼ wavelength distance is safely smaller than the cancellation inducing ½ (and greater) wavelength distance. Watch the video

For full details and explanation ref Synergy horn , read the ‘teaching’ patents 6411718B1, 8284976B2 (Thank you Mr. Danley)

Before I go make channals for the bas units, I need to now if two woofers 8 inch als is possible, that means one port each side of the horn, not like with yours two ports.
if this give trouble than i need to buy 6 inchers, but will try the phillips because of high sensitivity.
Also the distance of the ports, I do measure them in one line from the throat center? or use the conical wall.
You can use 8in drivers and put two ports near the edges per driver. Use the centerline distance. But if you can only manage one port that can work too. I just try not to have a port in the middle of the wall where is might affect imaging.

This is only possible if the units do not go to far to the mouth, where it is to wide. do I have to divide the ports by two?.
That is al I need to now, because you have a new apprentice I did see, let the power of the force be with you.
regards
Kees,
Make the port area in total equal to about 20% of the Sd of the cone. Maybe 25%. Use your simulation to double check to see if enough HF reach to cross to mid/tweet. Make larger if not or add internal cone volume filler.
Who is my new apprentice? If I have one, it's unbeknownst to me 🙂

The man who had kind words for you.
I have bought a usb audio card it is on his way, I hope a good one it is a Tascam US-122L with fantom supply and 24 bit 96 Khz audio out and inputs.
I have put now outside a stack for the loudspeakers, inside it is just not possible here, to much reflections.
I am busy whit that normal box and not horn to get measuremenst oke, after it is I go on with the horn, also I am busy with making faseplugs, little ones because HF is present in center of cone, lower frequenties are more outside center cone so I need really to get it right.

Nice DAC - looks like it should work well.
I think you have it backwards, I would be George's apprentice as he is far more experienced and wiser in audio theory and design.
Outside test is good, aim the horn at your wifi RF polluting neighbor and direct a 118dB sound beam at his bed room. 🙂

I have the problem that I did get a electrical shock from the pc housing when put mic on outside where I did had earth with my feet.
Maybe this is the problem I have also, giving a big 50 hz peak, I do need earth the pc before measuring.
The measuring is a lot better but still 50 hz peak who can also come from the antenne (sync pulses)
Use a laptop on battery to be safe.
You do now a pc who give a shock is not normal, buying a laptop for get around it is a bad and costly solution.
I put a new plug on the wall with a earth point on it to I get rid of it, you now I am electronicus so have always a solution for mister murphy.
Oh and yes my bad measurements was a problem in REW, because I did play with it ig has change someting, I have reset it again, but love to read
what to do to get good measurements and not to switch on things I do not need or even is not a good idea.

Not suggesting you get a laptop, just if you have one already. In general, not using 50Hz AC wall power will be less noisy if that has been an issue for you. I don't buy anything but laptops now for last 5 computers.
A ground fault shock is bad, it can also burn out sensitive CMOS circuits.

It is because a pc supply is a switching one and has rectifiers on grid, capacitors to earth is the cause. a pc has to be on a grid wirth earth, I did have non in livingroom but tomorrow I make one. I have now turn the plug so it has the hot directed, maybe it is a solution and you now whe have here 220v.

These are some $8 buyouts at PE that closely resemble their "Classic" series DC130A for $20. They have a good strong magnet and 3mm of xmax and can probably work well as a set of four woofers for the Trynergy.

The 8ohm is polycone and appears to measure at 87dB but has good low distortion figures for even a $20 driver. I think these are quite the deal and qnty 4 per Trynergy is a perfect complement. If you port them and redirect the BR port into the horn mouth near the exit plane, you can get the Trynergy to dig down to 60Hz.
There is also a 4ohm version with a little more sensitivity. But even at 89dB ea wired four in series parallel you should get 95dB at 2.83v out of them.

Those 8ohm 5.25in mid bass drivers are too good a deal to pass up. Just ordered qnty 8. 🙂
Seriously, Qts of 0.4 for $8 is cheap.

If I see the shipping costs then I get some hair getting into the air.
If this are normal shipping costs I am king kong.
And if the USA will a treaty with Europe? then this has to be change.

How many drivers? If 8 the $47 is a very fair price as I shipped a box of 2 drivers a 5lbs to NL and it cost about that much.

When order 8 I pay 55 dollar shipping.
But first I go use my own speakers for testing I hav woofers and here are also speaker stores with low cost speakers.
I have now a better mmeasurement with the usb soundcard.
did is a test with a sub and a bass/mid/high small box.
Now I can again go on with the horn, I have order some mic caps because
one is broken and I have just one left.
You see a lot of room effects in the measurements, outside was no option because
of the rain and hard wind. Just move the mic a fraction give a total different outcome
how sensitive that is I am suprised.
But REW do also not save files except when overwriting one, windows 10 has to
be removed and back to the old days.
