I'd do it by adding a mute circuit, ON by default, that would be turned off by a long sound provided as input (the Sony sound).
It works also on 1002, as any PlayStation with parallel- & serial-port.
That 7502 is my "devmachine", saving 1002.
Next step is to make it boot from cartridge without pc.

Boots from cartridge, but needs bootdisc (any official blackdisc).

Small step.

No need for PlayStation Controller.
Buttonboard from some old monitor connected to Arduino.
Arduino sends commands over serial to PlayStation.

Really nice idea with the display. I'am looking forward to see more results.

Disappointment!
So I finally got that PS1...and it turned out to be a 5552 instead of the 1000 that I initially thought it was 🙁
Read somewhere that it does sound good but was so disappointed that didn't feel like hooking it up 😡
Do these have enough input voltage to drive a TVC???

Recently picked up a Shanling scd-t200 with reading issues. My plan is to transplant a scph-1002 in it. Any idéas for button config or reusing any of the original shanling circuits?

hi, my son and i just modded two ps-1's by removing the six dc blocking caps and put a jumper and lifting the two muting transistors and they played great for a while but they both started,im not sure how to explain it ,the sound started to pulse and distort ,its's obvious we've done something wrong, when they did play good it was very impressive,if anybody has any ideas we would be very greatful, being were new at this, thanks so much. . . tim
