I have a second pair of loudspeakers i use very often - selfconstruction.
D'Appoliti/mtm - 2-way. At the moment byside of the sofa. Like headphones-
only away from the ears....

Dirk, I have chassis envy... :D

Won't someone do something to help these lonely, displaced, adorable projects? When they were young, they each had their own chassis. Even hand-me-downs from their older siblings were okay with them. They understood we were a family of limited means.

Then as they got older, they were kicked out. I bring them in and give them warmth and shelter in a nice chassis periodically. They can tell I'm judging them and comparing them to others. I tell them I don't play favorites, but they know. They know....

I look at others' projects and wonder if they're "better" than mine...

In the evenings, while I'm playing with the youngest, I can hear the pleas and hopeful cries. My Aleph J whispered, "Please, sir... just a bit of warmth in a nice chassis... if only for a month... I don't even need dual mono or balanced inputs, but it would be lovely... " :(

My M2x has eldest-child syndrome, I think. I was too hard on him. I just didn't know how to make the right adjustments early on, and there may have been an over-voltage. I did everything I could, but there's still scarring. I'm ashamed to change IPSs all the time... as if the original configuration wasn't just perfect. I heard a whisper, "Why do the younger ones get all the new fancy parts and better treatment? I've never seen you burn any of them with an iron" It's heartbreaking.

They all bring me such joy. I picture each of them in their own beautiful custom chassis emblazoned proudly with their name.

If only my wife weren't so heartless. I heard her say just the other day to a friend, "If he wants any more.. some of them are going to have to live in the garage". The garage!!!! Who would do such a thing?! :joker:

I was here for a bit maybe a month before starting the first build... Say 16 months for: BA-Yarra-F5TV2-J2-M2-AN Monos-Elekit TU-8600  All in cases and working presently. The M2X is currently in the lab jamming Dire Straits at 90db and the ANs are in the dedicated room. Also built all my cables for IC and power. I see the mailman just dropped off some of these :SONAR QUEST CRYO Ag Audio Grade Silver plated IEC plug + US main plug sonarquest | eBay

Time to get to work, I need four more cabled for all the builds. Most of those builds, all except Elekit were done in 4 months. lol

I noticed that too, I have my Tektons just off the shower area in the lab... I was drying off the other day and got my head in just the right spot and thought holy ****! I have since marked the floor and have a chair I bring in when I eat lunch I eat right there with my 200lb headphones lmao

Good evening, Group

my name is ItsAllInMyHead

I'm Junkie

Maybe it’s your speakers 😀

Just kidding, that’s some fine electronics siting on the bench for someone who only started 18 months ago👍

I guess that's what can happen when you build amps at breakneck speed.
May need to call Amp Protective Services. :D

Chassis envy? Yes, I know this problem!

Shall I make an emergency call to ModuShop / Italy that you were running out of material and your workflow is interrupted? :)
And the ladies/wifes. you should hear my sweetheart what she thinks about my crazyness!
Cheers!

Dirk

You guys are hilarious! Thanks.

Botte - If I brought another pair of speakers into the house... Well, then I'd be the homeless one. :D

Itsallinmyhead,
Looks like the beginning of a decent collection ;)
My count is currently: B1 Korg pre, two ACA (original TA mods), two ACA-220 (Hafler chassis), M2x, Aleph J, F6. All completed with full chassis.

On deck: Penultimate Zen v4, two MoFo monoblocks, Singing Bush, SIT-3X, SissySIT.

Dang! Can't wait to hear / see more. Your chassis work is always enviable too.

Last time I marked the floor, I got swatted on the nose with a newspaper.
Maybe Eric will get you hooked up with some waterproofing. :joker:

Hello rmauror,

I built the last few poweramps with those aluminum frames. Makes them super
strong. And easier to repair. Put the lids/panels off - good access to the electronics.
A few weeks ago I made a little stability test (check pics) for your fun....

All well in sight as in the pastry shop window, really beautiful.
Your stability test seems very explanatory ... if I try to do it, as a precaution, I think it is better if I already call the emergency number for an ambulance first! I'm still young inside, a little less outside :)

I have to pop the top to check the bias. What do you want to see? happy to supply pictures.

The chassis is custom. Built around the big heatsink usa heatsinks. Black stuff from Front Panel Express.

Let me know what you need.

The whole thing is gorgeous but I was looking for details on the heatsinks. I like the look of large heatsinks. What is the black stuff? Thanks!

Thank you for your kind words.

The heatsink is from HeatsinkUSA. Add dotcom to the end and it will get you to their website.

It is the 10.080 version they offer. 6 inches top to bottom on each side.

The front, top and back plate, that is anything which requires chopping up metal was outsourced to Front Panel Express. Not cheap but very convenient. All anodized aluminium.

This is one of two monoblocks, the other is running naked at the moment until I get to build the case. Power supplies will be separate too.

Thanks! I have been looking for larger heatsinks. I have always liked the look of the large heatsinks that I have on my Threshold amp. I want to build two monoblocks with wood fronts on them. No gauges, just a red light. The stuff from parts express will come in handy too. I appreciate it.

Understated post! Very nice!

Thank you and thanks, Dirk. I picked the font, a version Eaglefeather, which is a more Frank Lloyd Wright departure from the nice font the First Watt amps use. A friend then made the graphic and a friend of his converted it into a CAD file for Modushop, the diyAudio Store's chassis maker in Italy. I would have preferred the engraving to be a little smaller, but this was fine. They do good work. :)
