It would be very cool to have a limited edition with Wayne's signature etched.
@Toys4Boys
But actually we hear his signature every time we switch on, eh.
Maybe even clearly through the sonic signature (@^$#crackle^&@$buz&#^hmmm...) of our own work*.
*yes, speaking for myself.

Aside from it being cool, depending on WC's cursive 😉, it could be a way to generate some additional $$$ for future projects.
Yeah, but your volcanoes on the top side are beautiful! Well, my soldering skills are improving but I can see that I have a ways to go. That shouldn't be a problem as long as Papa etal. keep em coming!
Hello,
What really helps is to make sure that everything is clean bright and shiny, including the solder on the roll.
If you are using old stock resistors or other items with through hole leads shine them with 0000 steel wool.
Use just the right amount of solder, as in measure the same length of solder and give the solder a little kink with your thumb nail to measure it out in 1/4" or 5/16" length depending on the through hole size and competent lead size, to use the very same amount for each similar resistor lead .
Put the soldering tool tip on the joint and apply the measured length of solder. Then watch, you can see the melted solder pull or wick into and through the joint.
After a couple of hundred you get the feel of it and you do not to to measure the solder length.
Those surface mount capacitor buggers are still a challenge for me.
Thanks DT
Ordered the chassis set, can't wait for the kit to complete the build!
Tried to order them from modushop, but received a "Products marked with *** are not available in the desired quantity or not in stock!" error...?
They sure are looking good, and will save us a fair bit of work.
The add states "2-3 days". Maybe we have to wait?

Interesting, my order went through and I have a valid order number. If that changes, I'll let everyone know.
Pearl 3 first impressions, briefly
It took a long time to finish this, but it was a rainy Sunday here in Nor Cal & work & life abided for an afternoon, so. Spent the money a while back to get Gianluca and Randy's fine rear panels to complement a pair of chassis I had on hand, as drilling and milling isn't something I have the tools for these days.
This build uses Mark Johnson's UDP3 in a separate chassis for power, fed to the Pearl using an 3-pin XLR cable, & un-rail fused. Probably illegal.
For first power in the Pearl3 I used a pair of OPA2604 op-amps pulled from a CD player. The bias LEDs did a cute little flicker-on, flicker-off, then steady-on so I called it good & put the lids on. The op-amps stayed.
System is a Rega P3 with an Ortofon 2M Bronze cartridge, then the phono stage feeding a B1 buffer, and that feeding a prototype Firstwatt F6, and out to Seas A26 2-ways with series crossovers.
The phono stage I'm used to uses two single op-amps in series & has a calculated gain of 39dB for MM with the resistors I have in place. With that phono stage, the volume knob on the B1 gets routinely turned past 12 O'clock, often up to 3 O'clock. The Pearl3, with J2 closed, has a gain of 49dB if I at all understand the schematic, and any reasonable listening volume is down around 9 O'clock. Big gain difference. I can hear a lot of hum at high volume positions too so the grounding likely needs work.
First sound impressions were of detail, clarity, resolution, soundstage, you name it. No harshness at all. On some tracks the speakers disappeared, or I could hear the recording studio. Amazing stuff.
Unfortunately I only got through Willie Dixon's "Willie's Blues" (an excellent, excellent pressing) and into Jimi Hendrix' post-mortem Both Sides of The Sky before some weird skipping problem developed with my turntable, so I'm done for now until I can figure that out.
But in the mean time, this phono stage is an absolute winner. Thank you so much @wayne and @6L6 for the implementation and concept, and @Mark Johnson for the power supply, and @rhthatcher and @Gianluca for the chassis treatments. Way cool.

Likewise.
When I tried ordering I received a message that they are currently offline. I'll try again tomorrow.
That should be fixed now 🙂 Chassis should be ready to be shipped in a couple of days before our Christmas closing
Thanks Gianluca. There’s no question that i will end up with another of your beatiful chassis chez Robert, but i want to make sure that i can buy a “full kit less chassis” from diyStore before ordering. Mostly shopping Mouser from a BOM drives me batty. I always order too few of something, or the wrong thing. I like to solder, not shop…😉
Edit: well i ordered a set anyway. Early present to me…
