Hi Mario007,

It might be the Junk Mail settings on my Hotmail account, or it could be that the mechanism here doesn't work at the moment, but I still haven't received an email.

The appropriate pages are at work (unscheduled extended offsite meetings today). I'll attempt to set up my scanner tonight and if it works, I'll post the images tomorrow night when I get home. I'll let you know if I still need a fax number.

Sorry for the delays.

Bill.

P.S. I'm assuming the email was sent to:
me 😉 at hotmail dot com

will this work

i'm attaching some scanned pages from my sharp 1650 manual.
hopefully they are readable and will help...

Thank you so very much braxton. This will be a big help for a lot of people. But I have one question for you. Can you show the oppisite page with the 15 pin vga connector. I want to make sure I make my cable right although I think I know how the vga connector is layed out. I made a nice Infocus cable before 🙂 . Thanks again.

Thx ... except I just got ******ed from the guy on ebay.
Here is the emal I got after not getting my panel

Now we have this solved ...

The order was lost in one of our warehouses and (as you
know) was not shipped. Since the goof up, the item has been shipped elsewhere and we don't have it.
But ... all is not lost! We have a huge shipment of AV stuff
coming in from one of the Illinois Colleges and we should have some pretty neat things by this time next week. If you want to wait, we'll add 50% to your bid and give you $150 credit to spend with ******
Of course, a complete refund is also available at any time.
We apologize for our messing up and look forward to good
shipments
soon.

What the heck ... can they do that?

I think you should post the Mac pinout incase people do need it

Hmmm Very interesting. Thanks for the pinout braxton it seems to sort of worked. I built the cable just fine. Plugged it in turned the computer on 78" scandisk 🙂 . Started to load windows but just when it was about to enter windows all of the sudden the panel turned to gibberish. Rebooted saw all the same dos stuff just fine. Checked windows settings 640*480 tried 60hz frequency. Ditto for anything in windows. Tried various things like half-life etc but no picture in windows.

Ok I just did some more testing with the panel. It seems as though there is something in ATI RADEON drivers it doesn't like. I tested the panel with a laptop trident video chipset worked perfect, tested with desktop ati rage pro worked perfect, tested with my radeon 7200 nothing in normal windows. Booted up and ran in safe mode bam image appears. Which leads me to believe that Radeon drivers don't like sharp panels.

Hi Mario007,

Sorry about the mess-up with the emails - I never did receive one. Anyway, at least you have your cables...

Your problem with the radeon is interesting, though. Are you using the latest drivers from ATI's site, or the ones that came with Windows?

If the panel works in Safe Mode, then we know it is not an electrical thing. I have had similar problems with older monitors in the past - it is often due to the fact that the modes they make available to windows do not have timing/sync characteristics compatible with the monitor.

Maybe if you hit their website, you can download drivers with more controllable characteristics. Alternatively, the panel itself MIGHT have a setup screen that allows you to choose sync, clock, and refresh characteristics. My basic Sharp model (QA 1100) allows you to setup refresh and dot clock. You might need to setup the sync settings too...

Don't give up!!!

Bill.

Very interesting indeed. I went back to an older driver not one of the newer catalyst drivers. Plugged in my panel and it worked perfect. Have been tweaking with panel gamma, frequency, phase, etc for quite a while. Thanks for all the help everyone in getting my panel up displaying vga. Especially Braxton for the invaluabe cable pinout.

Hi,

I recently bought a Viewframe Spectra Plus panel from ebay.It came with a cable does not match the pinouts of the panel. The cable has 3 rows of pins wheras there are only 2 rows on the lcd panel.I have attached a picture here hopefully someone with informations on the cable can share his knowledge on the forum. Thanks!

Thanks Mario007. I went back to page one and found this diagram. I'll try it out and see what will happen. The lcd was sold "as is" and there was no manual. There was a demo disk for Mac. I am not sure this particular unit is configured for Macs or not. Nor do I know whether a driver is needed to setup the unit with computer. I tried to locate nView without success. The only website is for naval navigation not projection panel.

regards

Peter

Does computer needs driver for lcd panel? I imagine it's the same as monitor that we need certain inf file, right? May be fender4 knows this better as he is using the same nview units as I have. Can fender4 lend me a hand on this? Thanks!

Hey Icculus... (Infocus PowerView 820/950)

What panel do you have that you built your VGA cable from? I am about to own a cable-less 820 and a cable-less 950. Anyone know if the VGA pinout for these units is the same?

I also need power cables for both 🙁

Supposedly one other 820 that I bought comes with a "dongle..." the guy called it, some sort of converter box that lets you hook up a standard VGA cable. Maybe I can make my own pinout with that. Hey can I use a volt meter and a batter to make that pinout? If so, what kind of battery should I use?

Nview Spectra C

I just started following this thread. I got an NView Spectra C off of Ebay with no cables:bawling: I was able to get the power adapter no problem, the LCD lights up with the Spectra C logo on it. I assume it's doing alright so far, I connected the VGA to the digital input on the panel and get no signal from the computer.
Is it supposed to be connected to the analog one?
