Could you explain working of circuit in post 383 so we can adapt it to other amplifiers? How is the overload/short circuit detected? What current?

Over current detect circuit give positive DC voltage on PRO out if current is over 1,5A thru outputs (short circuit) or 10A (full power), C13 give time delay for peak current.

With IRF type FETS, with BJT you need the other diodes.

True, but recovery from clipping is better with the diodes.
