You're all free to join in. We'll post a "warning" in this thread and on the wiki a few days before we order anything. We need more buyers anyways.
As of now, we have 86 DIPs and 58 SOIC registered, but I guess there will be more DIPs soon.

Sounds real good this, just one question. Around what date are you planning on buying? I am interested in a small amount (<10).

When we have an order of 100, then we can get that discount. But there are always people who opt out, so we'll probably need like 130+.

That's a good point. There's no need to talk about closing this GB
until the critical threshold has been reached.
I'm hoping members who are interested will respond
relatively quickly, given that this GB has been discussed for
a little while now.
To all members: Please sign up on the wiki if you're interested.

Earlier in the thread, these people said they wanted about 10 chips each:
DEQ-TheEnd, Anzgar, Tony, nilsomat, Luke
They may not have read this thread after the Wiki was started, but maybe they'll check in later, so keep the thread open for a while.

Hi Blubbo,
Let's wait a bit to see if we have more interest for
the SOIC part. Hopefully we'll reach the 100 unit
price break.
Cheers,
Dennis
Hello all,
I've checked and Digikey now has 200+ pieces of th 8-DIP part.
We have enough interest in the 8-DIP part to proceed with
the GB. However, we have not reached the 100-piece price
break for the SOIC part, and the wiki has been pretty quiet
the last couple days.
Rather than abandoning the SOIC part GB, I would like to
propose an alternative. Since we are most of the way there,
I can still order 100 pieces of the SOIC part, but the cost
you pay will be based on the confirmed total number of SOICs
in the GB. I worked out some numbers based on the 25 and
100 piece prices, with shipping and tax.
# pieces | price
------------|----------
80 - 83: |$5.05 CAD
84 - 87: |$4.94 CAD
88 - 91: |$4.83 CAD
92 - 95: |$4.72 CAD
96 - 99: |$4.61 CAD
100+ : |$4.50 CAD
This will allow a partial price break over the 25 piece price.
I will take the remaining pieces and try to sell them on the
Market Place forum at the final GB price for a minimum of 6
months. After that, I may adjust the price or try other
methods of selling them. Any 'profit' from this hare-brained
scheme within 9 months of the conclusion of the GB will be
denoted to Diyaudio. (The downside is that you will be paying
more for the SOIC part...and I may end up with a bunch of chips
for which I have no ability to work with. 🙂 )
Please let me know what you think of this idea or have
any suggestions. If you think you may need the SOIC part
in the future, please consider ordering a couple spares
and we may yet avoid this problem. 🙂
Cheers,
Dennis

Dennis, its OK about the SOIC, for me ordering more is a bit too much. I already ordered 30.

I just deleted my post about more columns on the wiki page. I hadn't looked at it very closely. The current one is just fine.

GB closing soon!
Hello all,
OK, it looks like Digikey's stock on the DIP version of LM4562
is dropping, and they will not be getting more till Feb 5.
I don't think people will want to wait another four weeks
for the part. I'm going to try to order things in the next day
or so...but in order to do so, I need your help.
If you want the parts, please send an email to
lm4562gb (at) gmail (dot) com
with "LM4562 GB" as subject.
Include in your email, the following info:
1) Your full name and mailing address
2) The amount of each part (DIP and SOIC) that you want.
3) You paypal address that I will use to bill you at.
By emailing me, you are indicating your full intention of
buying these parts at the amounts in your email.
*Only email at the above address for ordering.*
I am locking the price now at $4.68 CAD for the 8-DIP part.
The SOIC part's final price will be based on the number
of confirmed parts order and the following table:
# pieces | price
-----------|----------
80 - 83: |$5.05 CAD
84 - 87: |$4.94 CAD
88 - 91: |$4.83 CAD
92 - 95: |$4.72 CAD
96 - 99: |$4.61 CAD
100+ : |$4.50 CAD
(The current price is $4.83)
If I do not get at least 80 confirmed pieces for the SOIC part
then I will not be ordering it. If you are ordering both
SOIC and the DIP part, indicate if you want the DIP only
if the SOIC part GB comes through.
I will charge $1.50CAD per order for postal supplies.
Shipping worldwide will be $8.00CAD for under 250grams.
I think this should apply to all but the largest order. If
your postal cost ends up being significantly more, I
reserve the right to bill you the difference.
CanadaPost parcel service will be used since the mailing
of electronics parts as letter post is no longer allowed
(at least to the U.S and international destinations.)
If you're ordering from Canada, I'll see what I do about
postage...
Finally, a paypal fee will be added. I think it's
0.55CAD + 3%
Please respond with your email ASAP. The cutoff will be
noon eastern time, Jan 12 (ie about 28 hours from now).
If you do not respond by that time, I will not include
your order. I will not be ordering extra parts.
If all goes well, the requests for payment will go out
shortly afterwards.
I will order the parts when 80% of the funds have been
received.
I am very sorry for rushing things...but I would imagine
most are ready to commit to an order now and not
wait another month for parts.
Please post here or PM me through the forum if you
have questions. The email address above is only for
confirmed orders.
Thank you.
Dennis

Hello guys,
We may be too late for the DIP part. As of now,
the Digikey stock is down to 164 pieces, and I've
only received confirmation from 5 members.
If I hear from a sufficient number of members
by late this evening or tomorrow morning then
I may take a chance and order the DIP parts
before I receive payment. Otherwise, we will
have to hold off till Feb.
Sorry for all this confusion. I guess the number
of DIP parts Digikey had received wasn't
that high (or maybe they had a large number
back-ordered.)
Thanks,
Dennis
