If you want my personal opinion; I think excessive emphasis is often placed on the top end (15-20kHz), whereas the soul, or heart of the music,
namely the midrange, seems to be neglected.
Around 2010 the Econowave hype was fuelled by 1" waveguide loudspeakers that were brought to market by people like Earl geddes, Wayne Parham
and many PA brands (QSC, JBL etc.).
I am not completely dismissing the concept of a 12 or 15" PA midwoofer with a 1" horn, but there's some "paradoxical engineering" involved.
On the one hand there's the desire to have constant coverage to below 1000Hz and the need to get to 20kHz on the other.
There's more to this, but I try to keep this simple.
Have you ever listened to a 1.75" diaphragm driver around, or worse: below 1000Hz?
If you haven't, Weltersys' High Frequency Compression Driver Evaluation may enlighten you.
He recorded short sound clips of different drivers that can be downloaded.
WRT the MRII 564: this is pre-eminently the kind of horn to be used with a 1.4", instead of ruining the rather unique properties by using an adapter.
I would suggest to scroll through the specsheets of the 1.4" drivers posted above. You'll notice different diaphragm sizes and materials.
1.4" drivers offer the best of both 1 and 2" (exit) worlds.
They usually allow crossover points as low as 700Hz (or lower) and are capable of clean output up to 15kHz.

tuyen, I realize drivers represent a significant investment compared to (the majority of) horns.
If I were you, I wouldn't select drivers solely for the purpose of using those with the Altec MRII 564s, but instead buy something with other options in mind.
Either way, if you'd buy 1.4" drivers, there's a plethora of horns to choose from.

When you look at the HF200's response curve and consider this driver is highly praised, then compare it to the curve of the HF1440,

You are absolutely right. But why not choose 16 ohm drivers?
This might be a better match with 15“ woofers in terms of efficiancy or usind a tube amp as horn amp (bi amping) or more options for flatening the impedance like paralell resistance.

Yes that's a nice driver as well, though the factory curve is probably slightly dressed up.
