you're loosing me here.....
what is a problem, functionally?
is it singing and doing what's supposed to do?

some measurements of RDC powered on and off
autoformer is simply sitting there all the time, what's there to confirm with Rdc measurements, once you did it and found OK......
@edwinjones4: slow down, study the schematic and ask yourself “why would the resistance measured at the outputs change or not change when the unit is powered or not powered”?
Hello, I finished assembling my Iron Pre balanced version 2021 some time ago and it sings beautifully but there's a little doubt that bothers me, as I don't know if it's normal or if it's just some error on my part. If I select an input that is not connected to any source (or it is turned off) with the volume pot at maximum level I hear a buzzing sound in the speakers, this noise is much more noticeable on unbalanced inputs than on balanced inputs. I suspected ground problems and have been trying to resolve the issue without success. I can live with this situation when listening to music, I don't notice anything, I just wanted to understand if it is normal, I don't have enough electronics knowledge to evaluate this situation. Ah, I think it's important to note that I'm using Frank Wilker's muses pot kit. Thanks for any help, Miguel
it is normal
if that bothers you, just put shorting plugs in unused inputs
either buy ready made ones, or make your own from cheapest possible RCA/XLR, simply shorting contacts in plug with thin wire
edit:
maybe you did tried, maybe you didn't, any factory made preamp/integrated in that same manner, and be sure that none of them is having any precautions for buzz on unused inputs
difference between majority of commercial products and Iron Pre is simply - they're having inputs dead as Dodo....... you need to push signal by force in them
, while with Iron Pre ....... everything done to preserve even tiniest fraction of signal energy, in given context

Use shorting plugs in the unused input jacks.
EDIT: Might Zen Mod beat me to it. 🙂

I figured it out. The ground connected to my stepped attenuator was loose.
I've sucked the air out of this thread over the past couple of days, so I'm going to step back and enjoy it (and other builds) for a while.
@Zen Mod, thanks for sharing this with the community.

I think a lot of it just comes down to the fact that we know just how very frustrating a build becomes when a not-obvious error or failure happens... so many on the forum are quite happy to help. Plus it's fun to figure out a mystery.
This is an incredible community, and we're happy for everybody building, helping, and interacting.

With the output selector I'm using Rout is a load resistor for the output of the Iron Pre so that when the output selector disconnects all outputs, the active stage output does not float. Should I load the output when all outputs are disconnected so it doesn't float? What is an acceptable value?

no need for any additional loading of outputs
I just got my Iron pre balanced up and running. This preamp is mighty!
Hi,
I'm planning my next build which will be the Iron Pre, looking for the convenience of having a remote volume control and I'm planning on purchasing a kit from academy audio but I'm a bit lost on how to connect it to the Iron Pre.
Can anyone give some pointers on how to adapt this to the Iron Pre?
Thanks in advance
This is what im planning to go with:
