I like these knobs best of what I have.
😎
Do tell please. Where can the likes of measly greedy boy like myself find such class and distinction?
@6L6
I like the mini coaxial wiring job. I tried using the same in a phono amp a few years ago and it worked great.
For some reason my cable company kept giving me 25 foot reels of it for free with various equipment and I held onto it. 🤷♂️

THIS is the kind of wiring that I try to make in my builds. I can only speak for myself but it is very difficult to even approach the neatness that I see here, let alone solder joints that don't make you wince. The type of wire that I use is pretty but not great for shaping or controlling. I have to work up the right attitude to work with it.@6L6

To be clear, I am talking about that coaxial that you guys are using in the photo. Looks to be flexible and much easier to use. I wonder now, how do you know what exact lengths to cut?

I think gift for his nephew in Florida?…can’t be sure was mentioned before in ZM project thread I think.
Edit: Yup…

Holy Crap Batman! Look at the size of that thing. Yes, you are quite correct about the length. That is what pushed me to use extensions in my last project.
You got admit, the tiny little guy up in your head did suggest cutting the entire chassis off by an inch or so, making the wires all reach, no?

No matter how many times I cut it, it was still too shortmeasure once, cut trice and it's always short

I have walked many a mile around the perimeter of my table saw in doubt before I finally cut. Measuring doesn't do any good if you can't use the tape. Sheesh
No real comparison to the work shown by others here, yet this is an improvement by means of the extensions that will be used. In a single channel, maybe about 8" of wire is eliminated. It is just one step in an effort to eliminate some hum in the right channel. Shielding between the transformer and circuit board will likely be next.
I guess slow progress is better than no progress…
Managed to attach PEM TO back panel, and put the trafo in the can. Next up. Drill some holes for the pcb and trafo.

the details often outweigh the lifting. You are doing fine and remember better to build like this than to think of something that you forgot after the fact. I seem to live there.
is that something wrong?
I'm forgetting everything, all the time
I don't even bother anymore to think

Well, ok. This morning when I was taking bucketloads of cement downstairs and then under the house to pour a pad for a new support, I thought it out entirely, because if you make a mistake, you really don't want it to be with concrete.
Somewhat fortunately, when you forget something in this hobby you may have redemption by completely taking it back apart and rewiring, such as I have with some of my projects. Truth is, in spite of that grace, I still hate doing it.

I hear old timers are forgetful, maybe a picture will help…
Sloooooooooow progress report. Managed to drill bottom plate, attached trafo and pcb.
I attempted to use a drill to wind the cables with a plastic tube, but it didn’t work because I don’t have a heat shrink gun. Tried using my wife's blow dryer
that didn’t work …. So on to Bezos bookstore to get a cheap heat-shrink gun to make the cables look all pretty.
Best,
Jose
