if ALPS Is proper one, with digital/chip volume you're maybe getting slightly better sound, while certainly increased level of convenience ........ if keeping a butt in chair is preferred as convenient

is that worth that you pony up, your choice

when speaking of digitally commanded resistive attenuators - my preferred approach is discrete resistor (binary) matrix switched with micro-relays - as best compromise of all desired performance factors

but, that's me ....... everyone is entitled to own Fetishes :clown:

Hi!
There are early builder (the most greedy boyz) and late ones... I'm one of the very late ones...
Autumn is approaching, and after completing my two-year speaker project and soon a power amplifier project, the path is "clear" for the Iron Pre. So...
I searched but didn't find anything, so would like to ask you: is there a group buy for remote volume control for the balanced version (I saw some great solutions here)? If not (or at all), what would be the best quality solution for balanced volume control? I was thinking about Alps 4x25kohms pot, but maybe there's something better. There are "mentions" in the thread, but I couldn't filter out a final solution (which of course has to be entirely my fault, so sorry).
Many thanks in advance.

There is a thread about Muses solution made by F. Wickler, but I can't find thread now .... it's having "Iron Pre" in title, most likely "Muses" too

I'm planning to have available Irreverent kits (both SE and Bal), which is Iron Pre on steroids, fully logic controlled, with resistor matrix volume in 128 steps, TFT screen and fancy remote, priced outrageously high, so no concurrence to Store Iron Pre

(full kits including mains Donuts and all parts going on big Motherboard pcb, but sans signal xformers - no logic of me importing them then exporting again)

While I am making a fool out of myself in other parts of this site. Heres a little wire porn!

Back on top man. I'm glad that I got all of the Iron pre that I need (for now). Not only did I get the Iron pre straightened out, but the class D amp as well. Both were messy wiring that just was unacceptable. Otherwise, I use a stand in amp that is great, but this class D amp is by far the best. And now, set back listen to music that I heard in a long time and relive so many moments with new detail and image.
