How to determine what type of replacement lamp your projector needs:

How to determine what type of replacement lamp your projector needs:

There are many things need to look at. First of all, check the manufacturers replacement chart. Although it is not 100% accurate, it is the first resource.

1. arc length.
You need to check the spec sheet of the original lamp.
Lamps with distance between two electrodes shorter than 2mm need JYd lamps;
longer than 2mm need JYs lamps.

2. size of electrodes.
AC lamps have two electrodes in same size;
DC lamps have one electrode larger than the other one.

3. lamp model
JYd lamps replace UHP, SHP, HS, HSCR, MS, UHE, UMPRD(DC),UHM(DC);
JYs lamps replace VIPR,MHL,MSCR,SMDR.
Others need to do some more investigation.

4. rod wrapped by metal wire
whether there is metal wires on the rod of the lamp, one round or more round, loose or tight will determine what type of replacement lamp needed.
If there are more than one round and tight,JYD/DC lamps are needed
If there are more than one round and loose, you have two possible choice:JYD/DC or JYD/AC.

If there is one round only, you have three possible choice:JYS/AC,JYS/DC,JYD/AC.

5. vacuum seal
whether this is a vacuum seal on the bulb. the vacuum seal is the bump thing on the ball part.
If there is seal, JYs lamps are needed.
If there is no seal, JYd lamps are needed.

ywh or 18wheeler, could you post a picture of a JYs 250W DC single ended bulb? i finally got an origional bulb (broken though) for my projector, a SONY VPL-S500U. i'm going to try to get the bulb out of the reflector, then post a picture. i'd like to compare the two. also, are they still $42?

thanks,

BadBoy 😎

Hi, I just wanted to ask a few questions about the lamps being sold at http://www.diypro.us.

1) Can these lamps be used to replace the lamps in commercial projectors?

2) If so, what modifications would you need to make to the projector in order to use the cheaper bulbs? Can you just slide the new bulb in or would you need to do some soldering to get it to work?

If this is easy as it sounds, I may just end up buying a used projector and outfitting it with one of these bulbs!

My projectot takes a 150W shp lamp. Will I need the ballast or would I be able to just use the JYD lamp straight from the internal transformer of the projector. Also If I do need a ballast, I really want to know how much that cute ballast and lamp kit would be and to ship to UK.

By the way, how many hours do you get out of the JYD's????

if your Original ballast is OK, you would be able to just use the JYD lamp straight from the internal transformer of the projector.
what model of your projector?

I'ts 11.00am here in the UK now. So these lamps are UHP/SHP and not metal halides, so my infocus ballast should operate these lamps without a problem I take it. So what is the minimum order to the UK and how much per lamp.The UK voltage here is 240V.

Also do these have restike times? and why are they called JYD lamps?

ymh,

Hello there. I have a Sharp projector, the XG-NV5XU, which I believe uses the same 150w bulb as the XG-NV5XE/XM (JYd 150/A.C.) listed on the spreadsheet, but i'm not sure. Here are the specs of the projector
http://www.projectorcentral.com/Sharp_PG_Series-Notevision5_(XG-NV5XU).htm

and here is the bulb itself

Please let me know if what you offers works for me.
