OK here are the pictures, notice the actual Bulb has NO " bulge" at the spark gap........weather or not that differs bulb to bulb who knows Its just a 120W UHP bulb 5 pictures to follow

hi Video Freak, did you get this bulb from the link you mentioned? i'm also interested but minimum order is 500pcs. the most i can buy is 2pcs :(

Nope Mine came from Ebay its actually the " correct" bulb for my lcd projector a proxima to be exact, I just posted it because of another question raised on this thread. If I can get a 120w UHP I would easily be willing to hack this bulb after its used and dead to make a cheaper alternative............... thats 2000+ hrs from now..........For now Im mostly interested in seeing how this 250w one does in Lighted situations.

Yea the 500 pieces I noticed I only posted it for Fun/ so we know the manufacturer that makes it and thus maybe its at the same store as YWH went too.........Mostly The arc gap is what lured me in.

I will try to answer all questions related to lamps people are interested

Lamps that I found here are to be used in comercial projector.

Some low power-consumption, high-lumen projectors use lamps that have
1.3mm arc length, which is even shorter than that of the lamp I found.
Thus the brightness will be slightly lower after replace it with our
lamp. But you notice the difference only when you do a side by side
comparison. Most comercial projectors have the same arc length as our
lamps, so there is no brightness difference after replacement.

Lamps are available in 120W, 150W, 180W, 250W, 400W, in both
single-end and double-end forms. Price are the same for all at $40,
shipping is $5 for each order.

Also, the ballast I posted IS the comercial projector component. It
has contral circuit for fan, which powers 12V cooling fan and can
delay the shut down of fans ( I haven't figured out how to use the fan
contral yet). If the ballast of your projector is demaged, you can
send a picture of the ballast. I MAY be able to find a replacement.

If you can find a branch of Bank of China, you can directly transfer
money to my account; if not, you can paypal 18wheeler
(DIYproj@gmail.com, add $1.80 paypal fee per lamp). He will forward
the payment to me. We have worked together many times before.

If you want a lamp, please remember to provide following information:

1) Wattage!!
2) double end or single end (most comercial projectors use single end)
3) DC or AC ( you can find it at the end of your projector's lamp. If
you are not sure but you have an electronic ballast, use DC.
Electronic ballasts are more forgiving. lamp's life span may be
shorten though).

What are the specs of the 400w lamp?

Specifically the arc length, mean lumens, colour temp, life?

Is it the same cost eg, USD 120 for the 400w lamp and electronic ballast?

What is and 400W?
Can you get the specifications for the 400W bulb, color temp, lumens, life in hours, CRI etc...?
Can you get the specifications for the ballast?

Thanks - pagercam

sorry, no electronic ballast.
most comercial projector is 120w,150w, a few with 250, few 400w.
yes,it is the same cost eg, USD 120 for the 400w lamp.

I would like to just put one of these into my 15" projector, and not replace an existing projector lamp. What kind of ballast do I need to run this lamp? Would a regular metal halide ballast designed for the larger mh bulbs work?

yes, a regular metal halide ballast and my lamp can be work

Thanks for the info,

Would you happen to know the specifications of the bulb tho?
I doubt they would be the same as the 250W?

If you could find out, that would be great!

Ywh,

Are you saying that we can use our own ballasts to power these lamps? That is one of the reasons for my hesitation to buy one. If it is proprietary then your out-of-luck unless you have a contact in china.

Which ballasts could be used to power the 250W UHP bulbs you are offering? Would a blueline 250W work fine?

Also, have you confirmed all of the actual specs with the bulb manufacturer? I would hate to have a lamp that we were told is 2000h turn out to be 500h.

For instance:
DC/AC Bulb?
Amps?
Lumens?
CRI?
Color Temperature?
Length?
Diameter of chamber?
Arc Size?
Connector Type?
Rated Hours?

If you can confirm all of those details with Manufacturer I would feel much better about buying a lamp.

Also, you mentioned double and single ended lamps. Single ended would be preffered I would imagine, since then you can use it in a reflector more easily?

Speaking of reflector, do you know of any compatible reflectors for this bulb? Perhaps you can sell them?

I am very interested in a new bulb, especially if this bulb is as good as it sounds. It may be worth it to just buy an old commercial projector and use $40 bulbs on it now!

Thanks for your work ymh, I appreciate your drive to find cheap DIY solutions!
