Giveaway - SJEP120R100 pair

rhthatcher sent me these great, little PCBs - thanks! A ground breaker, a snubber add-on for GBPC bridges, a NTC soft start, and a ‘stethoscope’ for hearing noise in your amp builds. Just finished them up and excited to get them into use 🙂

The Jfets have finally arrived in Canada! Again a big thank you to mr. Pass and Codyt for their time and generosity.

The next question is how to wisely use this nice pair of Jfets!

1 - Could be an Aleph J with Semisouth Jfet output? I have seen that Rainfallsky is planning a pcb for this and it look amazing. Rainfallsky any plan to release this one day?

2 - J2 ? I don’t know if I’m confident enough to build an amp that have not been release to the diy community yet. The last thing that I want is to destroy those nice Papa treasure.

3 - F8 ? Wait 5 years maybe more until the real thing is release to the diy community. And will it be diyable? Look like a nice simple design but look like a long waiting too.

Anyway what are you guys planning to do with yours ?

Hubert

According to Canada Post, my pair left Mississauga yesterday so they are now on a cross-Canada road trip. Expected delivery date is April 6.

I will be building the F2J, point to point on perf/strip board.

Thanks to Mr. Pass and Codyt for making this possible.

Everyone should post their finished projects on this thread. It would be interesting to see.

Awesome! Still waiting for mine. I’m not too far from Mississauga so maybe mine will show up soon as well!

You are the first to show interest. 🙂
None of my layout boards made it to PCB factory so far but maybe this will be the one.
I will triple check some small details and it will be ready for beta testing in 1-2 days.
I still would need to ask Papa a permission to make it public.
Also I have a lot going on in life right now so I can't be the one to organize group buys etc.
So I would ask for either.
1. Permission to start a small group buys. And give someone who willing to organize it the Gerbers files.
2. Permission to post Gerbers public so anyone could send them to pcb fabric or organize small group buys to get reasonable price boards.
Or both.
But remember. Those were never tested and you are potentially will be among the first.
Not that I think that it will not work as intended but you know what I mean..

Some of board features:
- DIY Audio UMS heatsinks compatibe.
- 2 output stage transistors.
- Overcurrent protection removed
- C1 capacitor can fit axial capacitor L54xD34 size with 1mm width leads and fixate it with zip ties to board. Or use regular MKP/FKP capacitors with lead spaces: 37.5mm, 27.5mm, 22.5mm and 15mm
- Coupling film capacitors right now have only 15mm LS.
- Trimmer pots places are for Bourns 3299Y. They are a bit wider than for example 3296W
- Power and speaker pads right now only for Fast-On blades. But could be modified to solder wires too.

I am personally would be happy to see photos of those boards stufed, working and extracting divine sounds. 🙂

They are very nice looking boards. I think posting the Gerbers would be the easiest way to make them available.

Might be worth taking a look at ZM's Babelfish J2. You can get boards and parts directly from ZM, and its a proven design that sounds unbelievably good.

I put an order in for several different PCBs and added EUVL's J2 PCBs my order. I'm getting 5 pairs. I'm assuming I'll botch something while doing my first SMD soldering. So lets say I'll have 3 pairs left. PM if you your interested in a pair. They should arrive mid-late next week ish.

I’m glad they arrived safely. Enjoy!

I’m trying to find some info regarding EUVL J2 boards when used with the irfp150 on top and Semisouth on bottom and I just don’t find any. Is it in the Udness thread? Are you guys talking about the versi9n with the servo? If someone could point me where to look it would be greatly appreciated!
