I haven't heard this version, so I can't judge. If I didn't have DCG3 worked out, I'd definitely go for this one. It would certainly be an interesting comparison to the GainWire MK3.
@dadod, If you've heard both, how is this one better than the GainWire MK3, as they both have a similar harmonic profile.

Yes I've heard both and I like both, those are mine creations, and it's not easy to judge. There is one tehnical reason to prefer this one with no GNFB over CFA, same SNR value for all volume levels, volum control is after gain block not at the input, look for explanation in this thread.
Roman, best way to know the differences is to build both versions, I have both.
This is corrected layout with those wires as a part of the layout, so not need.
I use power mosfet and power bipolar transistors in my power amplifier and I do not hear differences, you shoud be bat to hear it.😉

Just remember not to solder C6!!!

Damir and the schematic which corresponds to this pcb layout? Thank you for sharing, I will build both...
One observation:
The capacitor wich influence the SR mostly here is C2. I use 22pF. I tried with 10pF but one channel got unstable, so stayed with 22pF as did not 15pF at the hand.
You can try with 10pF and if there is no problem with stability live it at 10pF.
I am talkig real preamp not simulation.

Jes you need to match mosfet but it is not very critical. Are the output mosfet pair need matching?
Do you ship to Florida US? Any boards left? only 1 for stereo pre? Do you have an estimate of total?
Thanks

Thanks

Hi Damir when will SMD boards with smd parts installed be available? What will be its price?I prefar this one with no GNFB over the one CFA. I am planing to design SMD layout and eventually offer the board pupulated with all SMD components and left fo DIYers to finish with trough hole component. Now is very hard to find suitable trough hole transistors.
This is going to be the best headphone/line preamplifier ever.😉
I would like to hear if there is going to be interested for this kind of board?
Damir
I am also considering to buy already finished headphone amplifier from S.M.S.L H400 (discrete symmetrical circuit).
I hope I'll do it before end of the year. I will know the price after finnished all preparation and prototype too.

You can tray, depends if the headhone is power hungry, low efficiency
In the new SMD version I am going to make the output buffer more powerful than zrough hole version.

Huge power. Crazy people are making headphones that suck current like crazy or require crazy voltage swings because they are inefficient and high impedance. I don’t understand it.
