The Altec 15356A trafos are still on ebay, you're not going to find a better deal for that amount of money.

Bill I can only see one altec 15356a on ebay on any searches.
whats the other ebay item you found apart from this one Altec Peerless
thanks
Bill Fuss said:No way, much too limited in bandwidth. Try the Edcor 600s if you are limited in funds, or wait til something pops up on ebay.

Hi Bill. So the 20 to 20K Hz frequency response on the Edcor 600s is a key consideration.

have u tried these transformers yet? I am building my DAC now and very interested in these...from the specs they look good 😉
Only ordered my DAC a few days ago, so probably a few weeks away. Harbuch are just round the corner to me, so i can pick them up quickly when my DAC gets here.

20hz to 20khz is red book cd standard frequency bandwidth...u want transformers that get close to this...that listing looks like a telco transformer thats why response only goes 200hz-3.5khz you don't need HiFi quality audio when on the telephone...

thats why there so cheap
Is anyone here still using the Digitec output transformers? Any concensus what the best configuration is for these? Still 10R from the DAC board to the primaries?
Have tried very hard to find datasheet on these but no luck. Did e-mail digitec too but they never replied.

Just tried to place an order with Edcor and learn they are running way behind on production. It would have been at least 3 to 4 weeks before they could ship.
I have these Quad Filar transformers working, but there is a bit of background hiss?
I have 100ohm resistors on the primaries with 1.5n caps across them. The secondaries just have 10k loads across them.
Any suggestions for getting rid of the hiss/buzz, noise?

I think, you will not find a homepage from this Digitec SA, as the company is no longer existing.

Hmm...changed the 100ohm resistors on the primaries to 1k and it is sounding better, but I still have the background noise.
Data,
Do you have the output ground (barrel of the RCA outs) attached to the board's signal ground?
I'm not waiting a month for the Edcor 600:600. I'm very fond of the UTC. The Edcor 10k:15k are nice but the UTC are a serious cut above.

Hay, mush.
I have the board grounded via the center wire on the voltage input, so the ground comes from the -out from the DAC through the transformers and to the - on the RCA.

That seems to have helped a bit, the remaining is more than likely a noisy transistor in my amp...
Oh!.........how do I test for DC on the outputs?
Cheers

No, not an telecom equipment supplier from Ecuador 🙂
Again: it was a french company, producing together with Studer (and later owned by Studer) professional audio equipment in the 90ies and it does not exist anymore.
We recently dumped the old documentation, hundrets of kilo paper. No chance to search for the datasheet, wich was never published before.

Hi,
i'am not a transformer expert and i would like to know which is better for this application between this two Edcor transfomers:
XSM600/600 http://www.edcorusa.com/Products/ShowProduct.aspx?ID=327
XS1100 http://www.edcorusa.com/Products/ShowProduct.aspx?ID=547
