To allow you to enjoy your amplifier performing the best
try the Audio Internet Archive....not very famous bands..but high quality recordings you can download Flac, Ogg Vorbis and also 64 Kbps MP3...you can also select VBR MP3 if you want...i suggest you Flac.
You will see all you have to download..and they thank you to listen their music..no piracy in that stuff....is the way they had to try to be famous.... it is there to you to use, to download, and for free, and have not to register or subscribe.
At the rigth upper side you have a black and white window..there you have low audio quality preview of musics.... below the page you you can click to download your files...i use VideoLan to play them, but you may have even better players to use.
Clicking in live music archive you willl see all you have to your enjoyment...be happy and make your amplifier happy, as it will be able to show you it's own qualities.
Some recordings are better than others..because modern microphones and better software used.... do not evaluate quality while listening the preview...the real thing is much better... make your choice by the song you appreciate and be sure the real thing will be much better.
The link to Audio Internet Archive is in the earlier post.
regards,
Carlos

I am glad he will substitute another good amplifier by the Dx Blame ST, and i am absolutelly sure he will perceive clear advantage in this replacement.

Enjoy... what amplifier is this one?...nice board.
Is this your Blame style one?.... i like the board.... this simple little circuit (blameless) is something magic...yours will sound awsome.
In this site you can download some nice live performance...i use to search for FLAC files to use them:
String Cheese Incident Live at Horning's Hideout on 2010-07-30 : Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive
Here you can find something interesting too:
Mapleshade Records - Mapleshade's Music Festival[
My prefered ones are here...from Ryan Adams.... listen your amplifiers, full volume playing Magnolia and Easy plateau and let your soul travel to unknown dimensions, half way from the Paradise to the heaven.

That is "BX" (blame style).. real close to yours. Just uses fairchild trannies (ksa/c's) and can use 40-80v rails with simple change in bootstrap resistor values. It plugs into 3 power levels , 60/120/ 250 watt output stage boards.(60w below)
The "blameless bootstrap" gives AKSA like sound but is very accurate/reliable like the original "blameless". Oh, BX is "flipped around"... NPN input pairs. NPN's are easier/cheaper to match (better manufacturing - cheaper to buy a 100 in N. america).
Plugin board is nice for R and D. Can see if new designs do "strong emotions" or "trash bin" VERY quick. 😀 Very good design , Carlos. 🙂

boards, boards boards!
Many boards, but nothing can be done without parts!
Awaiting anxiously for them to arrive on Monday 😀
Oh Farnell Malaysia, I put my trust in your components.
From left to right : Speaker protection board, Blame ST PS pcb, Blame ST amplifier module, optional preamp and it's power supply PCB.

This time waiting will worth for you
It is more pleasant when things are hard to have, to find or to obtain.... we use to give to these things bigger value.
German group red boards (a rarity now, as he stopped to produce..will be colector's part in a couple of years more) are really nice...really pretty ones.
I am preparing also nice ones with the brazilian best manufacturer..will be coloured also and the highest possible quality...will be to the Dx Blame MKII and Dx Blame MKII Supercharged... also price will be the same price Rudi have achieved for less than 50 boards... we will go to international price, not to erase a good work alike Rudi and Omar did, offering competition with lower price..and we gonna make a more fair offer to both foruns....Brazilian and International foruns...we are searching not only for quality, but also for price..we want someone that will ask for us the same price Rudi had..to offer exactly with the same price...this way...Rudi returning (IF) he will compete under an even condition..and this is fair.
To me, personally, this competition is good...beeing Dx Blame amplifiers, not matter the one wins...the brand will be always be the winner.
I am happy watching your enthusiasm Chlorofille.. alike Chlorophille..your friends will be green of envy listening your system.
I am very frustrated... mail system..or international or the brazilian one made my red boards package vanish... i am sure Rudi sent ..... but i was not lucky...have not arrived.
regards,
Carlos

I have a 625va transformer from a B&K amp(Plitron made) which gives me 2 channels dc after the ps filter caps-34.7 v dc unloaded 2 rails to 0v. It may sag to 30 volts in use and after additional filtration. I have suitable heatsinks and aluminum for a case.
I live in Canada; are there any DX st boards for sale? and where is the best source for the hard to get parts such as the transistors?
I am in process of reading the thread at page 34
I also have some irfp9240 and irfp240, can these be used?

No, we have no more boards available...maybe after December
We gonna have some brazilian ones to offer...but you should wait a little.
Dx amplifiers, as main characteristic, does not use Field Effect transistors alike the ones you pointed.
We use only BGT.
Your transformer will fit without problems.... about where to find parts, people from this same forum may help you.
I usually receive parts as gifts from several friends i have...i do not use to buy parts, reason why i do not even know where you can find them...but we have a lot of Canadien friends, French and English speaking ones that for sure will come to help you.
This forum has some amplifiers that uses these Fets.... someone from our forum may point you a good amplifier to use your fets.
I have received, as gift, some transistors from Evette...a good friend from French Canada.... nice transistors...i am impressed they have reduced the size, and even this way the power dissipation remains big... the picture show the transistors i am talking about.

Carlos

Mouser seems to have the required transistors. (I'm looking at the BOM from here):
http://users.tpg.com.au/users/gerskine/dxamp/DX Blame ST BoM.pdf
So getting the parts shouldn't not be too much of a problem.
Cheers,
Dennis
Small and powerfull....nice ones!

Carlos
Those and the NJW0281/0302 are ALL I use. I get those MJL for 2$ and NJW for $1.40USD. Cheap and durable enough to put amps EVERYWHERE. I use the NJW's now as I get lots of 25 for $26 ($1.04 each). cheaper than the MJE drivers ($1.50 ea). 😱 I did burn some , smashed with hammer , they have 6.5mm square die. fake toshiba's from china have 3-4mm die.

Beware of fake 2SC2922/2SA1216
I went down to the local electronics store to get some 2sc2922's for testing.
Each cost $3, and are obviously fakes. Here are some images when I smashed them open. The die size is tiny.😱 Look here for differences. The fakes have a tiny die size.
I have the real parts from Farnell coming soon. These fakes will be used for low level testing.
Don't use the 2sc2922/2sa1216 unless absolutely sure they are originals.
(excellent advice from Rudi).
I have all the parts for the Blame ST PS board and DC speaker protector...construction pics to come...
EDIT: The die size is 10mmX8mm

Thanks Dennis Hui, from checking the transistor part #'s, Mouser appears to have them all except for 2sc2922 2sa1216 alternate choices. Digikey also have some. I would hope that these parts will be genuine Fairchild, Toshiba as indicated. Also there seems to be a few different versions of the same part #, have to look at the data sheets to compare.
Carlos-sir 🙂
Is there any matching of transistors for this build? and which are the important ones if matching is needed? Can I go by the DX- ST b./o.m. for the up coming new boards?
I am considering ordering all the parts.
thanks and cheers
