The same mistake (useless transitor ) is just here, http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/solid-state/193759-dx-blame-mkiii-hx-builders-thread.html#post2656123 , in original circuit, also 470R resistors are marked as 1/4W types..
Are you saying that Q7 has a negative impact on the operation of the amp?
Q7 in last schematics is without emiter resistor, so it is no current source, but "something" like bad switch. And series combination of 30mA current source (to high for VAS, poor linearity) with bootstrap (2x470R, 47u in midpoint) as in first schematic (Re=22R) in this thread, is very bad solution. And 30mA and 470R means 0,423W dissipation. Resistors are 0,25W. Here are too many mistakes, it is away from blameless..
BV around again..... amplifier was not developed with simulations
Maybe this is what you do....not uncle charlie.
Make an amplifier and post it to help the community, this one was already made and result a great success..hundreds have built.... tell me about your stuff....someone have buid your stuff?
I suggest you, as we are in a DIY forum, to do something useful working for our people instead to be buzzing around with your simulator like opinions.
Why something more useful?... because the amplifier is a little bit old, developed and finished to suggestions...offered, pcboards made...people build...so.....your ideas are not anymore usefull.....too late!
You are one of the lovely guys that are in my ignore list....the reason why is obvious...people have just to read to understand your behavior trying to be famous with other guy's work....try to do some work yourself.
Uncle Charlie ignore list has less than 12 folks..and they are the best from the best..the cream of the cream no doubts...as we are more than 200 thousand and you where selected to be present in my most special list.
Develop from the scratch as you believe you know something special .... and post it, build it, test it, offer to the community.... expose yourself to the same kind of criticism you use to do with others.... have courage to face the responsibility...do something nice!
Be happy, by your own work and effort.
regards,
Carlos

Q7 has not negative effect Terry
This man is an old fellow we know very well.
I strongly suggest you to ignore his ideas.. as his target will not help anyone of us.
People have asked, one year ago, some update...and was made....some parts changed.... read the thread dear Terry, there you have all the stuff posted.
Have no doubts dear Terry, me and BV, we have a love affair that has root a long time ago....we do not forget one each other...see the picture.

Carlos

Hey Carlos,
No problem. My MKIII plays nice and to my knowledge, there were no warm 1/4w resistors. I only asked BV that question because he called it a mistake and it is not "His" circuit. I have read through the entire thread and some of it many times. I seem to remember seeing BV before and and saying things were wrong but to my knowledge, he has not built this amp. There was another EE criticizing this amp as well, but I built his circuit and it doesn't work. Hopefully he is building that amp now, (JK sent him some boards). Then he can give some hands on advice that will be more than speculation. The only work I plan to do on the MKIII in the future is a little different chassis wiring scheme to see if I can get rid of the last little but of hum I still have. Other than that, it plays beautifully.
Blessings, Terry
EDIT: I checked the real schematic and Q7 does have a 47R emitter resistor. Juan left it out on his schematic.

Carlos, Your MACHO EGO is very, very oversized , orders of magnitude over your knowledges..You showed no one real measurement about amplifiers performance, only kidding videos . In posted schematics are basic mistakes, this amp is miles away from "blameless", this is plain fact. I tried to help, but your reaction is "not allowed!"
I make amplifiers (not simulations) as my job , more than 25years, thousands of units like this. Try to do the same, I bet you will die for hungry. Bye.

This is an awesome amplifier.... looks good and sounds good
Musicians use to appreciate the unit...and they know a lot about sound.
I am in a fight to loose weight once again..... weight have increased....surgery validity looks going to an end.... reduce intestines now absorbing a lot... on a diet once again.
Well.... the diet was never stopped ... but nowon, have to be even more severe.
Be happy folks....to compensate i am angry about my gain of weight. 6 feet tall an now 137Kg ...i was 128 Kilos
I am now good to handle the speaker the turkish people have used to test speakers...down the signature line:

Hi Carlos,
I'm just glad to see you coming back around. I worried we had lost your presence here. I will be praying for success in your weight loss. As we get older our health becomes increasingly more important and we can no longer ignore it. I'm trusting that you will eventually desire to release you future designs to the DIY community once again.
Blessings, Terry

Thank you Terry..... i cannot leave this forum
I have made some good friends here.. and each one of them worth more to me than 1000 of these less pleasant ones that sometimes appear......also i am crazy for audio.
There's another problem, i have 200 Fets, and i have to figure out how to make them sound the way i like.
I am developing some new ideas..... maybe gonna share some of them.
I am already feeling some age effects...memory is failing.
There's a class A that i am interested to try.....and i can burn some Fets trying to make them sound nice... due to my stock....there's also a tube here, Bigun sent me...and i have to use it and this one can produce the tube alike harmonics we like..... this is something boiling in my mind.
regards,
Carlos

wow, that's quite a lot. What kind do you have - are they all the same ?
Yep... a lot..... here you have some.
IXFH26N50
FQA19N20C
FQA12P20
FQA34N20
IRFP064N
FPQ50N06
IRF9530
IRF1405
BUZ11A
And some biigger ones lost in another box...i have to search to find them.
Almost all them are new...there are some few BJTs included in this box too.... the component leads, or "legs" are cut short to avoid them to break when you bend it... a way i found when i was very young to avoid the component to break right at the limit such that I could not solder a wire to use the component.... a tradition, a use that I developed and I could not get rid of it even though the new components normally do not need it.

Carlos

I see you have a nice selection !
Before you make too many plans for those devices I assume you will test them first to see if the FETs are still working and not destroyed by static electricity.

They are fine..... and easy to check with multimeter
This will not be the problem....problem is to make them sound the way i want.

A friend asked me to tune the MKIII to use as subwoofer amplifier
He gonna use an active filter (op amps)... and this amplifier will operate from DC to 150 hertz... he asked me to put it to 4 ohms and distortion he asked less than 0.010%....i made it to 0.005%... also the input gonna be 1.2 Volts RMS to achieve full power.... Power achieved was 455 Watts RMS at 4 ohms and distortion at 45 hertz not more than 0.005%
Miguel Nabuco (Mitchel) gonna use two Leach Amplifier channels only to Mid range frequencies.
He gonna use 4 Dx Super A to High and Super High Frequencies... all then gonna be optimized to his demands...
Here you can see his work to the subwoofer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1I3phnr7ihQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK-p2k198RE
Schematic attached for you to see...optimized to 45 hertz....frequency response drop abruptelly above 2 Kilohertz even if you inject full bandwidth noise on it..input capacitor filters.... high frequencies goes to ground... just in case.
Marked in green are parts removed or changed in value.
He may produce this stuff to sell in Brazil..but inside gonna be Godzilla amplifier from Dx.

Carlos

This MKIII sounds like mine one
maybe better due to speakers.
I do think all MKIII has the same destiny... to bright as stars.
