My NAS has ZFS mirrors and monthly scrubs to test for file integrity.
What are you running LMS 7.9.2 on FreeNAS on.
LMS is installed on FreeNAS inside a 'jail', a separate space inside the NAS OS that allows another program to run independently with its own IP address. I started a thread on how this is done.
I have three Raspberry Pis running PiCore Player as the network streaming players. LMS detects the Pis automatically and all is controlled by the Android app, Squeezer.
If you have an old PC which is 64 bit, it can be used for FreeNAS.

Thanks, when I get a spare system I will try it.
My PiCore player systems will pick up My Main Daphile system.
I have made two backups of music.

If you are happy with your current music setup, I can't see any benefit in changing. My only 'concern' is ensuring your music collections doesn't disappear through a failure of some sort. Thanks, when I get a spare system I will try it.

Change CD Rip destinaton folder.
Hi,
I'm sure this is simple but I can't work out how to change the CD Rip destination folder for Daphile.
I think the default is DaphileData/Music I want to change it to DaphileData/Music/FLAC
Any help appreciated.

Matt, why? What difference will it make?
I don't think, but may be wrong, Daphile allows this. Secondary and network drives can be callef anything but the local folder is set.

Thanks forthe interest. I've just moved over from another OS (Vortexbox) where I had my MP3s and FLACs in seprate folders.Matt, why? What difference will it make?

Eg. Server/Music/MP3 and Server/Music/FLAC. I just spent 3 hours moving my libarary to Daphile with this structure.
Now when I rip a CD it's going to Server/Music.
Not the end of the world, I can copy and paste it to FLAC with the File Manager.
It would be good though, to rip to the FLAC subdirectory.

DSD conversion keeps cutting out - any ideas?
First post so please be gentle!
I have been using Daphile for about 3 years now and I think it is great.
I have a hard disk full of FLACs (mix of CD quality and high res) and I usually play them using the play from RAM function.
My DAC is a Chord Qutest, and the other day I tried the transcoding to DSD and output using DOP - I selected "audio processing" as "convert PCM to DSD" and set it to DSD64.
It plays fine and sounds good. The only problem is that after a while, the playback cuts out and the seek bar starts hunting. After some more time (I would guess about a minute), the sound picks up where it left off. Then after the same time, it cuts out and resumes again after another pause - it keeps doing this.
In the transcoding logs, I can see the transcoding to DSD entry for the FLAC file and it says "stream interrupted" and then there is another entry for transcoding the same file with an offset of the time the playback cut out. I therefore suspect it is transcoding in chunks (for 16/44 it seems to be about 1m45s). It always does this and seems to cut out at the same time.
Any ideas how I can get it to transcode the whole file so it doesn't cut out? Is it performance of the machine? Its an ASRock J4205 motherboard with 8GB memory.
thanks in advance for any replies

Hello gentlemen!
I use Daphile since two years and now I am trying to help a friend with his Daphile. My system uses a NAS folder for music.
My friend uses a WD HDD connected to the USP Port for music storage. Near everything is alright with the last beta 20.01 except I cannot copy files accross the LAN top the Daphile USB HDD.
In the Settings, Storage, Local Drives I have the "Share" box ticked but I cannot see it with my W10 computer.
I can the "Daphile" computer when exploring lan, but cannot see this share.
Another point, I am not sure what I have to enter in the "Source Directory" text box.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Source directory may be blank. It is in my settings.
Did you checked the RW box?

Hello, thanks for your answer.
Yes, the RW box is checked.
Is there anyway to check the share on the command line in the Linux side?

Once file server is enabled:
You have to tick RW and Share on the storage part for the USB mounted partition to be able to write on the share.
You can use the share as \\daphile\<NAME> using any network drive mapping !
You will do what you want from windoas explorer or whatever.
You can also use the FileManager from the web UI to upload files ! this is not the most reliable way to do it...
My predered way is to use sftp with winscp, bitvise ssh client ... the USB drive is under media\music\USB Drives\.
Bon courage.

Addendum :
Daphile is sometime not visible in network, this will not prevent to mount the drive using net share command, the Map button, or from explorer once in network, type daphile in address bar you should see all !
daphile i.e. the daphile device name

Thanks...
I've checked the smb.conf files and it seems ok.
[All Shares]
path = /media/all_shares
guest ok = yes
browsable = yes
force group = user
writeable = yes
create mask = 0664
directory mode = 0775
veto files = /._*/.DS_Store/
delete veto files = yes
I can ping the daphile computer either or the ip or the name...
Pfffff.
Ok thanks, with your explanations I've understood I can drag and drop, it's working fine. Thanks a lot!

I will reply to my own post. I emailed the above to Daphile support and got the reply:
"PCM to DSD transcoding requires ~2GHz CPU (dual core at least).
Have you checked the "CPU frequency" setting at Settings -> Power.
Daphile underclocks to near 1GHz by default and that's not certainly enough for PCM to DSD transcoding."
I set the CPU Frequency to "Dynamic" and it plays DSD128 fine with no problems. I havent tried anything higher yet, but this sounds good. Thanks to Daphile!
How can I get one Daphile installation to access another Daphile. I have my main Daphile server as Daphile, and another remote setup up as Daphile2. How can I get Daphile2 to access all the files on main Daphile..

Media Server - choose External and type the IP-address of your main Daphile server.
Click on Save & Restart.
This should do the trick 🙂
Thank you MSHAVS as you said it did the trick perfectly. In your Daphile2: go to Settings -> General

Folks:
I have a dumb question: is it possible to burn a CD from Daphile? If so, how? I'd like to copy a few albums to CDs.

Scott
