better !
Cheers Russell,
much better .... I have found a laser company to do all my cutting of the enclosure for a very good price . All stainless steel .... Just stuff I have left over from old projects.
Ordered the extra parts I needed today ...
I'm preparing the heat sinks ready for the fets
Studying layouts and reading really basic stuff ... Things are still pretty vague - things like DC offset and linearity .
I guess I'm out of my comfort zone thats for sure 🙂
Started looking at my next project .... DAC from a Eval kit .
Rich
So, how's it going?

I'm very sorry to all, I did not know that the PCB boards I'm using are none sanctioned
copies . This is my first project so I'll continue with them and remove the "Pass'' as Mr Pass suggested in the F5 thread I was just reading . I will not use them again .
SORRY ALL !

I have an A30 using P. Daniels boards, I just want to say using silpads works well, when you want to remove and re-install the boards.I do not use thermal paste also.
Cheers doggy !
I'm hoping that my next project will be built on the kosher board. Now I'm a member here I may be privy to the whereabouts of said boards 🙂
I'm an artist by profession and the notion of copyright is something I take quite seriously ..
Thanks for the heads up on the silpads.

kosher PCBs for power?
Where is a good place to buy power supply PCBs for power amps, I'm assembling parts for a BA-2 and would like to implement the rectifier - CRC filter arrangement shown in the original amplifier description. I've gathered that red is for danger 🙂

The BrianGT PCB should work fine: (Bottom of page)

Thanks Dennis
I bought a chip amp kit from there and the quality is excellent. The layout is a bit different though, basically
bridge - big cap - load
whereas the one sketched in the BA-2 goes
bridge - big cap - resistor - big cap - load.
I'd like to stick close to the original paper, do you anyone who sells those?
Thanks
Steve

Steve, the Aleph PS boards are different than the chip amp PS boards.
They are at the very bottom of the order form, and are what you want.

Thanks Bill, I think the part you and Dennis are referring me to is "AMP-PS-PCB". Right now this links to a spreadsheet with some amplifier BOMs. I've contacted the site to ask for a link to the correct part.
Thank you
Steve

Hi Steve,
There was some recent discussion about the BrianGT PS board:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pass-labs/52188-new-aleph-mini-pcb-gb-135.html#post2338590
and a BOM a few posts down.
Cheers,
Dennis

Buy a secondhand analogue oscilloscope. Dual trace or dual beam, >=20MHz
Any software scope attachment for a computer is effectively a sampling oscilloscope and a very slow one at that.
You will be wasting your time trying to get good results from equipment that is incapable of performing well.

£20 and upwards.
Buy it working (not repairable).
If you are patient Ebay gives good value.
My Tek 2235, 100MHz, dual trace, 2mV/cm, with 1 probe cost £70.
Another 2 probes cost £40.

Internal Layout ?
Hi folks,
I'm looking for suggestions on the internal layout of the amp .
I thought this might be ok . Bearing in mind the objective being as much distance as possible between power and audio signal ....
Please advise .
I'm off to laser cutters tomorrow so I would love to get panel dims confirmed asap .
thanks, not a novice anymore , just a funny colour green

It's hard to get a sense of the layout size, what are your heatsink dimensions? Just at a glance it looks to be fine.
I hope you have flattened and polished the heatsink areas where the fets are mounted, it is quite important. A fine mill file will reveal how unflat they really are.
Don't forget to include some venting in your top and bottom panels.
Lookin good!
