Building process - The loudspeaker 1

Kind of hoping this is just a rendered picture... 😳
It does have that fake look about it....

Pretty sure taste comes in all sorts and shapes though.
That might be a good thing. 😉
Wesayso, I think you're right, it is probably rendered... Remindes me that one time as I visited Munich High end show, I encountered a turntable of a famous brand which was all acrylic glass and gold (I think they have installed some fake gems stones as well, just for show) . The design shouted so loud bling bling money that I had to giggle. Yet as I asked about it, they told me it as already been sold!! For 30k. So yes, one can never know 🙂

Very excited to see some activity on the tl1/2 .
I built a pair of TL-2,s in 2021 and even though it took me months...it was worth the wait.
Outside of veneer, I followed Troels' plan to the letter-- its a big box with internal chambers

I'm looking forward to your final version.

It is safe to say that this is not going anywhere! And, turns our that the big hole in the bottom is very helpful, one can anywhere to wipe out glue.

Finally starting to cut sheets of beech plywood, 30mm thick. Every cut is a small operation since the cabinet is also narrower at the back at an angle of 5 degrees... So a lot of time goes on accuracy.
In my books, beech plywood is the best you can get (after panzerholz that is 🙂) better then birch which is also a great material. Only problem is cost, here in Germany it is about 45-60€per square metre.
Hello,

is there an online shop to buy beech plywood? Can you advise any?

Thanks

ha wow! thanks for writing! I can't wait to here this monster! are you happy

I love them! They take a good while to break in and placement is key.
  • The Bass will surprise you at first--it will sound light--over time as the woofer breaks in they really come alive. Never "fat" sounding just clean and forceful-- if its in the recording. Of course you can tailor the response with the Hypex but I'm still figuring that out
  • Midrange and highs--as fast and transparent as I have ever heard--I have had Maggies, Martin Logan e-stats (sl-3 and Odyssey) and the tl-2 is at least their equal and probably better. One note--crappy recordings will sound crappy--no way around it--these don't sugar coat
  • Imaging is wide, a bit forward with reasonable depth--but once you get them dialed in--they really do disappear.
FWIW--Experiment with placement--it really matters with these--I have the horns on the outside--Tried have them on the inside--way too bright for my taste--but when you get it right--Your search for a better speaker will end--until the upgrade bug bites again... at the moment I can't think of another speaker under $25K-$30K that I would rather have.
