I like Marcus Rashford, and he seems to have hit form with a couple of goals for Manchester United recently! Though not the force they were in the days of Bobby Charlton and George Best....
What Joy in the Horse-Racing World! We was discussing the tragic demise of Her Maj in the Pub today. A horsey woman if ever there was! I think She went out on a winning note.
Reading between the lines, She seemed delighted to meet the incoming PM. But TBH, I think She was contemplating a victory in a minor race. £13,000 is a quite lot of money.
It is said by Jockeys that wearing the Queen's Colours made them feel 6" taller! This was Tuesday 6th. September. By Thursday 8th. She had gone!
Hopefully, £13,000 should buy a few carrots for her horses, whoever inherits them:
Not many people know this, but amongst the papers of Affairs of State, Her Maj always got a copy of The Racing Post!
We can only regret She never won The Derby in Her lifetime. Won the other four English Classics
Amongst all the current chaos, we look forwards to the Doncaster Horse-Racing Meet on Sunday:

9 TOP Races! I can hardly wait! 😀

It disappoints me that so few of you are excited by Sports!
TBH, my friends are sharing similar concerns about my recent Horse-Racing disasters!
I lost money on a nag called "King of Stars" recently.
But what do you know? It's running again in the 15.27 at Beverley tomorrow!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/horse-racing/race/EHRP1162120
Sure-fire winner, IMO, at 4-1 second favourite. A massive 50p bet for sure:

Ah, the money will be rollin' in. Might buy me a Coffee at 'Spoons! 😀

I sometimes think I am talking to myself about SPORT at this Engineering Forum....
In my view, it is an Odd Person who doesn't like SPORT!
My Friends have become concerned at my recent lack of Horse-Racing Sporting Success. TBH, it worries me too.
It's like being a top striker who hasn't scored for 20 games. Confidence ebbs!
Thus have browsed up on the Greats, like Anthony Peter McCoy:
Admittedly a Heavy Jumps Jockey, rather than a Light Flats racer, but significant lessons learned.
I have changed my plan to defeat the Bookies. I am on the potential Champion Jockey today. William Buick on the 22nd. Sept 2022 at Newmarket!
27% chance of winning. With 6 horses it's a dead cert!

Let's see how it goes. 🙂

dreamth, you just might be my brother from another Mother! I always listen to Claude Debussy!
Tremendously successful afternoon on the nags:
Imagine my JOY on winning the Second Race at Newmarket!
OK, 4/9 on is not the most exciting odds. Bold Act. But enough to rescue my losing streak!
Imagine my delight when Wiliiam Buick also delivered a 4/1 winner in the 15.35!
By my calculations I am already into Profit. I say this as an unashamed Capitalist.
It gets better. I have Dhahabi in the 16.10. It won! system7 has fallen over at this point!
If Yantarni wins the 16.45, I shall retire from the Horse-racing game!

On a high. You follow. 😀

Happy Days, Folks. Yantarni got beaten into second place by Ashky. Thus system7 not retired.
Why is this good news? Mainly because I am not retiring from horse tips!
My advice to you is to pile your money on to PYLEDRIVER in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. You could be looking at anything between 20-1 and 50-1 in Paris in October. Ground is uncertain. Usually a bog, but who knows?
That's what I will be doing:
As we say, GOOD LUCK.

You wouldn't catch me riding Elephants! It's too long a way down when they throw you off! Threatening injury. Broken bones, concussion, haematoma through bruising. You name it.
Even horses frighten me. A mere 8 foot drop. But I like watching from the sidelines.
Tremendously good 3 day meet at Newmarket. I made a rare profit!
Da Betfred bookies are treating me with respect now, after recent worrying reverses.
I have the winning formula at last.
How? Trust the Top Jockeys! They know if a horse is any good after a swift bit of work on the Gallops:
After a successful two days on Newmarket jockey William Buick, I switched to Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien for the the Curragh and and third day at Newmarket. What a fool I was! I didn't lose my shirt on a sensible £2.50 stake, but lost 28p when I would have won £4 on William Buick.
I say this with the greatest respect for Aidan, but he is not the force he used to be.
My newest plan is to put 50p on William Buick on Rebel's Romance on Sunday, in Cologne in the 3.35. Would he really fly all the way to Germany expecting a loser.
Andrea Atzeni has a selected two races at Epsom tomorrow. He doesn't knock himself out.
16.00 Dukeman, likely a dull evens or 6-5.
17.05 Rich Waters, more exciting 12-1 odds.
Let's see how my latest plan goes. Jim Crowley is having a day off tomorrow. 🙂

Yeah...It's a pity that elephants don't like racing...
The elephants may not like it, but the Vietnamese certainly do!

Some scientists say that elephants do not run because, unlike horses, all four of their feet never leave the ground at once.
Others say that elephants bend their limbs slightly in order to move their bodies more smoothly, producing a gait that has been dubbed "Groucho running" after the silly, crouched walk of Groucho Marx.

Juan Manuel Fangio winning the 1957 German Grand Prix at the fearsome Nurburgring; broke the lap record several times and drove most of the race with a broken seat.
Sir Jack Brabham winning the 1966 World Championship in a car designed and built by himself and Ron Tauranac, with an Australian Repco engine. (OK, it was based on the Rover/Buick V8 but its innards were Oz). I think he had a 'team' of four people, including himself!

I care little for racing cars, TBH. Especially old and unsafe ones. You'd have to be deranged to jump into one.
No, the scandal that is rocking the Sports World right now is about Chess Cheating!
World Chess Champion, Norwegian Magnus Carlsen's body language shows his clear disgust at his opponent's tactics:
We Brits also take a poor view of Sporting cheats.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-63010107
Clearly this one will rumble on for a while. I think Niemann cheated, consulted a Chess Computer, but just my opinion. Not established fact.
More interestingly, I have been analysing the Thursday 22nd. Sept results at Newmarket. Significant Mathematical patterns have emerged!
Often a PICTURE speaks louder than WORDS.
I say no more.

There's also the prospect of Carlsen being unfair to a guy that doesn't play by the book being 11 years younger. Both him and his former chess coach were caught cheating in online chess, but while online games rise one's rating so that the betting houses can choose what opponents are preffered for prize tournaments and online cheating is a big thing as it can promote you unfairly to the highest ranked players, truth is that FIDE rating cones from recognized tournamrnts and chess.com tries hard to have online tournaments recognized by FIDE so they can't afford online cheating. Now you better take it with a bit of salt cause there are at least 5 players that perform equally better with Carlsen in online games without cheating and never get to play over the board or in FIDE recognized tournaments because they live in mainland China or are simply unknown guys.Chess.com by itself is a very unfair site as its algorithms of pairing partners are deeply wrong and without cheating you can't get in upper ranks as it's trolled by tons of bots and fake accounts aided by technology that the site can't automatically see.Truth is that Carlsen is using his influence to keep Hansen out of the chess world. Somehow I doubt hr will succeed because Hans will bring everyone to a court of justice if necessary. The chess tournaments already pay in excess of 1.5 million dollars for first and second place so it's big money involved. The gsme where magnus lost was lost by Carlsen mistake.Hans Nirman is a good player snd he's still learning. He msy not be at Carlsen level but Carlsen lost to even weaker guys from time to time.
I retired from Chess years ago. TBH, I found it boring!
You want to know how the Horse Racing went today?
I usually follow my system, with just one fun bet thrown in...
But was strangely spooked today. I decided to just follow it rather than invest money!
My fun bet was at the home of Irish Racing. The Curragh near Dublin. Art Power:
I like this horse, and with a drop in Group, felt it was sure-fire even at evens!
Thus it was. William Buick also won the 15.35 in Cologne, as predicted. But at 11-10 hardly lit my fire either.
Strangeness crept in when Andrea Atzeni skipped his rides at Epsom in the 16.00 and 17.05 to lesser jockeys. Both were losers.
Overall, today was a waste of my Mathematical time. Oh well. 😕

Not really.
Elephants playing chess are much less boring!
The only time I've made a bet was in connection with "the slowest sport in the world".
A Village Fête was the venue and "Ready, Steady, Slow!" was the cry that started the race!

Poor things... what do they get as reward? They're so fragile...
Cornu Aspersum, the common garden snail, is not as fragile as you might think!
It can survive heat and drought by entering a state of dormancy and can overwinter by altering its blood composition to prevent the formation of ice crystals.
If the snail felt threatened, it would retract its body into the shell. If it were badly irritated it would produce a defensive froth of mucus.
So you see, the snails in the race all look to be happy chappies!
And the reward for the snails? I suspect the finishing line is moistened with beer!
