A tremendously exciting finish to the flat horse-racing season in prospect at Ascot on Saturday 15th. October 2022!

William Buick is already Champion Jockey. Andrea Atzeni and Jim Crowley need not hang their heads in shame, either.

Not a bad race there. Loads of good horses! 😀

Of particular interest is Baaeed's last run in the 16.00... the horse that wins and wins!

I will be massively invested in every one of the 6 races. Shall be buying The Sun newspaper that morning to study the form.

We are not sure if stayer Trueshan will even run in the 13.25, disliking hard ground.

Cracking weekend ahead. Usual 50p stakes. I always keep it Fun. But will be surprised if I don't get a winner. 😎

I was talkin' to my Betfred Turf Accountant today, Ruth. We generally agree about the odds!

First off we agreed that Wiliie Mullins is not serious about winning the 13.25 on Stratum! Maybe an each-way in a race with huge prize money, but REALLY! 🙄

I have my Ascot British Champion Stakes Saturday Card sorted out. Jockey William Buick and Trainer Charlie Appleby for the most part:

13.25 Coltrane
14.00 Creative Force
14.40 Eternal Pearl
15.20 Modern Games
16.00 Adeyar (I know, I think Baaeed will win!)
16.40 Migration

Very exciting! Can't wait! 😀

An interesting sub-plot has developed in the 14.00 today at Ascot!

Our new King, Charles III has a runner in the Royal Colours...

Of course, it is his Mother's work. A Qipco "Hall of Famer". The Nag is called "King's Lynn":

If it wins, you can knock me down wiv a fevver. But Good Luck.

The Sport of Kings! You know, Nijinski, Mill Reef, Lestor Piggott and all that. I know me Horses.

I surprise myself sometimes!

Here is my Betfred £3.50 betting slip for today's tremendously exciting Ascot Horse races:

For those who are visually challenged, here is the SP according to SP:

13.40 Coltrane
14.00 Creative Force and King's Lynn
14.40 Eternal Pearl
15.20 Modern Games
16.00 Baaeed (I mean, it's gonna Win, how could we think otherwise?)
16.40 Migration

Best Regards from Steve P in Portsmouth, UK.

AW, I can't believe it! 11-8 Favourite Trueshan with Hollie Doyle riding won the 13.40, my fancy, Coltrane at a more exciting 10-1 beaten into second place!

50p down the toilet!

All is not lost! We have 5 races to go. Often have I started with a Winner and everything else LOST. This time it might be the other way round. 😀

Yesterday, I watched the Great Britain women's tennis doubles team narrowly lose out to Australia in the Billie Jean King Cup.

In spite of losing, the GB team seemed chuffed with their performance!

Lots of tactics in that game!

P.S. I missed Australia losing out to Switzerland in the final today.

A very strange post from my good friend dreamth. But I expect it was about the very minority sport of arm-wrestling! 🙄

Onto the 2022 Soccer/Football World Cup. Much more popular.

Did I ever tell you I once tripped over Sir Geoff Hurst's kitbag whilst hurrying for a train at Reading?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoff_Hurst

What a Gent! He picked me up and got me on my train within seconds. It was only afterwards that I realised what had happened... and the kitbag escaped without a yellow card. 😎

My England shall doubtless draw and disappoint with Iran.

The other group game Wales v USA is the one I am excited about.

The Americans have probably never even heard of Wales. Don't even know where it is.

Well trust me, Wales will give you a game:

No, I don't know what "YMA O HYD" means. But they seem serious about it. 😀

Onto the 2022 Soccer/Football World Cup. Much more popular.

Not so popular with me, Steve!

Too much geometry involved - defensive triangles, offensive triangles, triangular movements - I wonder how many of the players can even spell hypotenuse? :mischiev:

And that's before I start talking about their icosohedral shaped balls! ⚽

They say soccer is a sport which combines the strategic thinking of a chess master, the touch of a Formula 1 driver's foot, the balance and poise of an Olympic gymnast and the creativity of a master painter. Aye, that'll be right! 😉
