For bass (<100Hz and down) nothing matters more than displacement. So get the driver with the most displacement you can afford.
There's a few guys here who are small speaker specialists. What are your thoughts? @wolf_teeth
Peerless SLS (if you can find them)
Anarchy 554 ?
E150HE ?
If you go ported, consider down-firing or rear firing ports.
But seriously, if this is for desktop use (1-2 ft) listening, you really don't need 95dB per speaker...nor do you need the bottom octave (20-40Hz) with most music.
I'd consider the L16RN-SL...

The SB23MFCLs are not available in my country right now 🙁
Peerless, Dayton & Anarchy drivers also, same situation..
How does this wavecor driver look? (Has the same kind of xmax as the SB23MFCL and is 20mm smaller in diameter)
https://www.wavecor.com/html/sw215wa01_02.html
I can get these drivers at a reasonable price (2/3rd) that of the SB driver. The intended crossover to the Sica coax is somewhere above 200Hz.
I did a simulation including the effect of inductance & some linkwitz transform in a 10L enclosure and this is how it looks. Is it any good for this application?

Another 'higher-end' wavecor driver. Probably wasted in this application (and cost of each driver is 2x the previous wavecor driver I posted above). Is it better for this application than the previous wavecor driver?

A basic closed box sim (10L enclosure with L-T)

The 223 is a midwoofer, optimized for higher frequencies. The first one is optimized for bass. If you are open to 8" woofers, many will work. Dayton Audio RSS210 models are also really nice.
Thanks @wolf_teeth.
I am slowly opening up to the possibility of an 8inch and make a box like below (from Mabat's original sketches):
Unfortunately, these days, the only Dayton drivers I have access to are RS180, RS150 and RSS265HO. The RSS265HO being unjustifiably costly here.
Most drivers are either out of stock here or not available at all. And because of the import duties, driver cost doubles if I buy it from abroad.
Some of the wavecor drivers & selected SB and Hivi drivers are the ones that are available here.
If the wavecor SW215 works, I can easily get them at a reasonable cost...

Redesigned cabinet for the speaker (with 8.5inch wavecor SW215 subwoofer)
Color not yet finalized.. 😀 😛

I got these links about ALTEC's directional (cardioid) loudspeaker from a conversation on a Facebook group.
Sharing these here for future reference.. 🙂

Slightly modified the looks of the cabinet.
Earlier, I had not considered that speaker has to stand on a surface.. 😀
It now has a "coffin" ish look though.. 😀

Maybe this is slightly better 🤔
But this looks more like the directiva R2 speaker...

You could make it a little round at the bottom but leave enough surface so it does not tip over?
Or just put weight at the bottom of your round design, then the kids have something to play all day long 🤓

Thank you @IamJF for the suggestions.. 🙂
I am iterating on this box design to see how much it can be changed so that it may be a little better aesthetically.. 😀
Will post those here if I make any progress.. 🙂
Regarding kids, I don't have any at the moment.. 😀 I myself am a 35-year-old kid.. 🤓😛😀

You can leave edge of the woofer rounded and make rest rectangular for better stability...
Old Revel Performa was very successful similar design...
Amazing directivity you get with this simple slot...I wonder what will main difference in sound be like in comparison with closed box of the same shape...

@vineethkumar01 what material are you planning on building these with? Take that into consideration, if it's wood then your cost goes up to make those curvatures. Baffle isn't the problem, the top and the side curvatures will escalate costs. something to think about, if on a budget.
Today's version of the speaker in the make-believe world.. 😀
I really like this iteration but it is probably impossible to make one that looks like this here.. 😀
I will probably try to flatten out the back and sides and go with that......

@wolf_teeth Ha ha.. I never made that connection while drawing this diagram... 😀
