I have a 7 VAC/2A torroid output and need a lowdrop reg for a 6.3 VDC filament tube. Has my torroid traffo output voltage enough to use your reg?

because dissipation is only 3W at that current.

With 6.3VAC input, you are looking at 7V rectified, and the module works with very low input-output voltage.

No, but the maximum current is lower than 2.5A, more like 1A at 9VAC in, and the cooler will get very hot.
