Tannoy 3134 DC ZM-induced purchase, service and repair

I send a mail to Lockwood for the tweeter.

Lockwood is selling their newly made tweet cartridges on fleabay

interestingly, you'll easily find auction in same place of (most likely) actual chinese producer, jus slight texture of plastic difference and no lockwood sign

compare pics and you'll see

chinese ones are real deal, I had them in hands, doing repair for customer

I cannot find the red/yellow cloth you used for the surround repair. Is the blue and white still ok? 😉

I used for a while the modified crossover (from earlier post) with the cpa12 enclosure.
On those I liked the lpad in the middle position.
With the mltls I like no attenuation so I replaced the lpad with a 8.2r resistor that I had at hand.

Anyone else tried the lpad mod? How do you like it set?

You mentioning CPA12s.

Took me back years ago..
I had 3828s and HPDs in a pair of DIY'd 21mm BB GRF cabs.

As a fun experiment we put CPA12s in the big cabs.
Made a baffle plate to fit.

The 12" CPA blew us away.
Nearly as much deep bass as the 15" drivers.
Better mid bass, upper mid bass, mids / HF too!

The CPA12s were cheap as chips 2nd hand.

Cab volume matters.

Slowly slowly the resin on the surround starts to accept it will lose this battle. The surround gets more supple and lets light through. I think that these high fs surrounds maybe have more of this stuff in them than other Tannoys...
However I will persist and win so now we need mouse glue. This is an actual product which is forbidden for use in the EU on rodents as this is considered a nasty way to kill them. However you are allowed to buy it which shows that our bureaucratic friends in Brussels have realized that we need this mouse glue for our surround restoration. This is way more empathic than ever dreamed possible. There is hope yet in these dark days.
