Pearl 3 Burning Amp 2023

I switch-on everything at one main switch and I hear no "pops" in the speakers.
I think there can be a difference which PSU is used for P3 as the UDP3 I use ramps-up the voltage very slowly. I takes several seconds to reach the 19V. I think this contributes to avoid a loud "pop" but can't say for sure of course.

I read about very silent vintage Japanese pressings made on Bordeaux red vinyl like this (probably not the color that does it but easy to recognize):

Anybody have some of these that can confirm the quality?

Thanks to @Algar_emi I've got a set of boards. This weekend I ordered parts from Mouser and Audiophonics. One of the Toshiba transistors was sold out, from the other one I ordered the last three. Must be a lot of Pearl 3 builders out there ;-) They did have some ZTX851's though (as well as the 457's which I'm going to use for Q8). First up will be the power supply. Shielded toroid from Toroidy, already Quasimodo'd for snubber values. It is fun to see all those different builds!

PCB supports (standoffs) of the RIAA board can be insulated. Dont worry about stripping paint or anodization, just mount it.

Remember that all 6 panels of the chassis need to be in electrical contact for shielding. This requires getting to bare metal in many spots of the enclosure.

my experience with Modu - be it steel covers or all Al - just tighten all properly, and you have Faraday cage

Ideally, you should use conducting metal tape along all openings... I've done this to shield industrial PCs in metrology labs where we measure RF and do not want to introduce noise.

But, for a stereo... to go with the Faraday cage for your stereo... you must listen in an EMF proof suit.

You can also use it if you get a job in the Fukushima Daiishi plant.

My OCD caused that I just changed the metal shims to nylon.
Now it sounds much better 😉 .....not as "metallic"...
But there was a real chance that the metal shim would cause a connection to the gnd-plane.
As far as I can see the edge of the gnd-plane close the holes are gold plated? ....and then conducting (not protected by the blue solder mask)?

Yes, if you can keep the shim inside the "outer" hole.......or what shall we call it?
The "outer" hole (which is where the ground plane ends.....or starts) is a gold plated circle?
And that gold plated circle is the ground plane......so shim should not touch that gold plated circle?

I have not measured anything.......so don't no for sure......just looking at pictures.
Now it is late night in Europe.........
A Danish song from the past......not known outside Denmark. Original from 1993. Maybe I will get the album on Vinyl some day.
Here live in 2011 or so:
A goodnight song.......
