The saved links for Podium speakers I had do not work anymore. Podiums exciters were mounted rigidly to the spine and the circle discs were placed on the spine. You can use any type of damping material on the spine and or if you do not use a spine you can put it directly on the magnet.Audiofrenzy.

Exactly my findings also, maybe I should re visit EPS again with this new exciter.Cardboard is warmer more accurate (less coloration) sounding with less echo/reverb. XPS will sound more lively and dynamic with more coloration.
EPS has a slightly warmer tone then XPS.

But as I recall it, I spent quite some time to search and find different material to use.
I ended up with a stack
Panel CF
Aluminum
Wood
Tile fix cement based
plastazote I also tested with foam made of epdm.
one major flaw in the design is that the ”stack” is exposed thus generating sound as it is vibrating, ouch.
I intend to explore this further.
The cuts are copied from göbel and is cut using a coping saw with a very fine blade.

I remember saying to my wife I could convert an electric piano to use dml panels to sound exactly like a real piano.
It would save a fortune on a real piano and the expense of continually tuning.
She said NO !, I want to feel the piano 😩

I have those links but those dont show the disc used for tuning. There was another link clearly showed it but that link no longer works.

You did well with using Tesa Moll tapes on the perimeters of your Göbel clone build., even though they are made from synthetic rubber, as rubber eats the sound.And some background info on impedance in solids

As everyone here has EPS (or XPS) sheets, why not cover it tightly with Cling film (Cling wrap) to see how the sound changes? Practically every kitchen has Cling film these days.

This is to replace the paper strips , but I have not made up my mind if it works or if it is an improvement ?
I wasn't going to mention it until I had made a decision.
I am more interested in using the cling film in the exciter area as a passive radiator a sort of electrostatic or planar without electrics or magnets.

Good that you are trying cling film. Tell us your subjective feeling, how the panels sound, near-field and far field, and at an angle, on in-plane, etc. Also, fix the panel to a frame with double-sided foam tape to see how the sound changes. If you don't have a frame at hand, just fix the frame to the wall, that is, if you have a brick wall. Right as requested some pictures of the build, added a final sheet of corrugated cardboard/ paper, the difference that has made to the bass has surprised me, these things really kick down low now.

It's a hole where I tried a fullrange driver, didn't work. If I had a small 19 mm exciter at hand I would try it on this spot tho, got a nice top end tap sound to it.
The idea for the cling film is loosely based on this patent.
Instead of the panel(film) being driven by the cone driver it is being driven by the panel surface .
The thin strips of paper I used do the same job.
This all stems from something a friend commented on his panels many years ago.

Just found some pictures I took in November.
This was my first attempt with the art panel.
I did the same with the proplex but I did not have cling film big enough to cover the whole panel.
So decided to use small pieces instead.
