Asynchronous I2S FIFO project, an ultimate weapon to fight the jitter

@redjr

ReceiverPi need to be installed to the Pi side under the daughter board. It would be better to use ReceiverPi Pro for StationPi Pro.

Ian
I have an XMOS USB card installed on the RPi daughter board. That (XMOS) seemed to work okay during some testing using my other StationPi Pro board. My plan was to use the XMOS card for USB input and the ReceiverPi for Toslink input. I have not tested the ReceiverPi on the audio side, hence the question. So, the ReceiverPi won't work on the StationPi Pro audio side?

Edit: I guess I've had a misunderstanding on where some of the other input boards need to go - the RPi side or the Audio side. I now see after another review of the ReceiverPi docs that indeed it should go on the RPi side. However, are you still saying that if I were to get the ReceiverPi Pro, it would work in the Audio side stack, or would it still need to be under the RPi on the RPi side? I guess I don't care where it need to go as long as it's the correction implementation of it with the whole system.

On a related topic we've discussed before... Will a HiFiBerry DAC work (or benefit from) with new FifoMA?

Hi Ian,
What colour should the UCenable indicator be on UCPi? The first time after charging it was red. Now after five hours it is amber. Sounds like there's a fault on the board to me.

I don't think photos will help any diagnosis as it's a bit crowded in there. As noted above, the linear LM350 2.5amp regulated power supply powers the Pi alone very well. the UCPi connects through its gold pins to the RPi.

Run the ES9038Q2M Dual Mono DAC in true SYNC mode with a FifoPi Q7 would be a great help.

Hi Ian,

Thank you for your reply. Some additional questions:

In order to expand the input/output channels, is the TransportPi Digi the way to go? Is it the best solution and does it benefit from the FifoPi Q7?

What are the specs for the OCXO if you want to upgrade?

Thank you, Jan

Basically FifoPi Q7 is equivalent to FifoPi Q3 + ReClockPi + better isolators + better power supply filters + new features. So higher performance would be expected.

Ian
Dear Ian,

Since I will have spare Reclock Pi when I'll upgrade to Fifopi Q7, will it have positive or negative impact should I put the Reclock Pi on top of FifoPi stack?
2nd question: How much better is the HDMIPi Pro vs HDMIPi MK II and what are the sound quality improvement to be expected?
Many Thanks

Regarding using a higher input value on the FifoPO4 Mini (6.6 variant)... Is the stated 9-12VDC in the documentation correct, or is the value printed on PCB 9-18VDC correct? If, it's 9-18 volts, can that be used for AC as well, or would the peak-to-peak be too high for the rated capacitors? I'd like to use 15VAC as input if that is possible.

Dear Ian,
I just became a member of the fifopi and DDAC club. It's a great system, which I thorougly enjoy! I have one little problem though: As I also bought the accusilicon clocks for the fifopi I can enjoy the improved soundquality, but when I select music with a different samplefrequency, (48 kHz instead of 44,1kHz) the clock doesn't follow. Only when I take out the clock and replace it, the sound will come through (and the output light changes from empty to I2S. This doesn't happen when I change to the clocks that the FiFoPi came with. What can I do to solve this problem? I suspect the accusilicon clocks, and have already tried to improve the contact to the fifopi board, but to no avail. I'm runnig RopieeeXL in my raspberry 4B.

Your advice would be very much appreciated.
(I can supply a video showing the problem if required)

Thanks in advance,

Hessel Veldman

Looking at the user manual i found the tip of lifting pin 1 (OE pin) This solved my problem as stated. Thanks for the clarity. Now lets enjoy the journey ;)

Hi All!

My problem is, the q7 with hdmiPi Pro not working my Gustard x16.
My TransportPoDigi working fine with it.
Unfortunately Gustard havent i2s options.
The assembly was done according to the manual and the Volumio play the music fine, just There is no music.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I finally finished my personal D11 Dac, based on UCpure.
I struggled when I started a few years ago with the lack of complete examples of builds and decided to share my projects. May not be perfect but hope it helps someone starting out.
Detailed build on my YouTube Chanel.
Happy Holidays to all

Well done Gaby. Looks great! A lot of time and attention shows in your build. And, your system is awesome. I'm presently working on my 3rd IanCanada DAC stack build, but it's no where as intricate of a build as yours. Simply amazing what you've accomplished. I'll show pictures when mine is ready.

Gustard X16 has an I2S input: it corresponds to the HDMI port, which has a custom pinout.
You therefore need an HDMI cable like this (plan2 choice):

Which X16 input are you using now?
